That means even persistence has limits? A time to let go!

Thats pretty much what it means.
Let me quickly add: one thing i observed about business is you should almost never act based on your guts. If the facts tell you to pack your things and run, my guy! run!

The accidental public servant by Nasir Elrufai.

It's a peace of literature worth reading.
It depicts the typical epitome of a successful hardworking and devoted civil servant who achieved what was seen as impossible to achieve despite all odds. It's a yardstick for wo ever want to be in government
I would so much love to read that book, The Accidental Public Servant by Nasir El-Rufai. I saw it with an old friend some months back, but was not opportune to borrow it from him. Please do you have a soft copy of the book?

I won't lie; the book title has kept me from reading it in the past. A pure case of judging a book by its cover. Never knew it contains such inspiration.
Ha,ha,ha! Infact I had same issue with the title until I read it,you will love it.

I'm currently reading 48 laws of power and I'm on law40, my best law is not conceal ur intentions. It's interesting
dearpreye:
We've been repeatedly told that readers are leaders. Also, that he who doesn't read has a very little advantage over the one that cannot read. To read is to learn and grow. We won't stay long enough to experience all life has to offer. We need to read to learn from the lessons and experiences of others.

It's very saddening that in this age, despite the overwhelming abundance of information, a lot of us don't really study.

All the information we need to succeed in life has been written. Be it on money, marriage, health, business, family, success itself, religion. Name it. It's been written.

I'm currently reading THE ROAD LESS TRAVELLED, By Scott Peck. It's being an awesome read. The author talked on pleasure, suffering, discipline, delayed gratification, child training and religion.

I'll talk briefly on self gratification. It's the ability to forego today's even legitimate pleasure for tomorrow's gain. Without it, wealth, health and joy will elude the individual. No one can truly succeed without this vital ingredient of life. To delay gratification is to prioritise. To delay gratification is to always look at the bigger picture.

The future is hardly far away. It comes pretty quiver than we can imagine. Time hasn't waited for anyone. If we must live a happier tomorrow, we must be mature and brave enough to delay gratification. I'll encourage as many as possible to get a copy of this great book and travel in the mind of the author.

So, let's see which book you're currently reading. Any book. And don't forget to drop a line or two from it. Thanks.

Lalasticlala and Ishilove, please let's do justice to this thread. Readers are leaders.

Since I'm not a core politician, I didn't enjoy all the laws shaa...However NEVER OUTSHINE THE MASTER and TALK LESS THAN NECESSARY are my favourite laws.
I concur! NEVER OUTSHINE THE MASTER: many are guilty of this LAW and it ends up costing them dearly. Nice one.

I just finished reading "what dreams come true" I advocate readers to go for dis book. It's based on real life story experienced by a man who lost his life in a car accident leaving his wife n two kids behind, unlike his wife he was a believer, so he narrated d power of life after death, he was able to communicate wit his family trying to mke his wife belief dat theres a soul in our mortal body, unfortunately d wife passed away without any effect bt they were bonded together n thier eternal destination affected eachother because there were soul mate.........after all n all, there was a reincarnation. I like d book because it gives an insight of life after death, n inevitable path we all must thread

The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli

It is a book which teaches effective tatics for an abosolute ruler

Here are some quotes from the book

Property matters more than loyalty - men would forget the loss of their fathers than that of their property

one must be a as wily as a fox to recognise traps and be as powerful as a lion to frighten off wolves

An unarmed prophet career must end in disaster

Fortune is like a woman favoring those bold enough to treat her roughly

A prince must behave like those archers who, if they are skillful, when target seems distant, know the capabilities of their bow and aim a good deal higher than their objective, not in order to shoot so high but so that by aiming high they can reach their target

No true victory is possible with alien arms

It is unreasonable to expect an armed man should obey one who is unarmed

There are two ways of fighting: by law or by force.

1. WHY NATIONS FAIL.

By Daron Acemogu and James Robinson.

This book is talking about exactly what the caption said. But, in my opinion, apart from the historical wealth the book contains, it have been a bit disappointing. My issue with the book is; it blames governments for all the failures of any nation. Still in the middle, though.

2. MY VISION.

Challenges in the race for excellence.

By Mohammed Bin Rashid Almakoun (or something like that).

This book is talking about the great vision of how Dubai was built from scratch.

"How Europe Underdeveloped Africa" by Walter Rodney a British quite interesting, its exposed how western European countries gather their wealth through labour and and exploitation of black. hw they hinder our further development from communal to Feudal in 15th century. i'm currently in page 230. I need to read this to enhance my knowledge on economic policy and programs....... Student of economics UNIVERSITY OF ILORIN.

I av read the book, though I did not finish it seeing that Rodney seems to favor communism over capitalism.

Such a fascinating and captivating title. I've always wondered how a few nations are so developed while a great many are backward, especially in Africa!

I was so determined to read the book. I was discouraged by the mostly unimpressive comments made by reviewers on its Amazon page. I might again try to see what's in there.
