Well I'm not an insider so I don't know for sure too. But then, if someone had told me in May that Cech would be a gooner now, I would have doubted it.
We can only wait and see

We also conceded just 4 goals more than Chelsea. City finished ahead of us scoring 12 more goals and conceded 2 goals more than we did.

I showed some data in the previous page of this thread showing how we failed to score in games that mattered last season. Our high number of goals was from high scoring games.

I agree with you guys, if Theo, Giroud, Alexis and maybe Chamberlain can stay fit all season, then yeah we have a shot but then, isn't that the whole point of this discussion - that we don't have someone capable if anything happens to say Giroud for example? (we saw this clearly last season when Giroud was injured and when he lost form for a few games).

I don't have a crystal ball to tell me who and who will stay fit in the coming season. All I know is that we will be taking a risk going into the season as we are now. Alexis has played over 70 games in the past 2 years with little rest (World Cup, EPL, COPA Americas)...

Chelsea were really lucky last season in that they were able to keep key players fit and available for a large part of the season. However, they had Drogba and Remy ready to take over from Costa whenever the need arose.

Anyways guys, I'm sure we all want the best for Arsenal even if our methods vary.
First game of pre-season is in about 11 hours!!!
dude face d reality....all dese stat u quoting can't win us d league or ucl.....u just biase as wenger.
Last season jenkinson was far better Dan chambers yet he went on loan y not chambers....
Poldoski was better Dan welbeck, sanogo , akpom yet poldoski went on loan y not sirnogoal
D league is getting tougher every season nd u guys re here quoting ancient stat...
Özil was played outta position cos of dat silly boy dat just run at opponents to get cheap fouls, I was even praying he get injured so dat özil play his favorite position... My prayer was answered.
We fucking need players no time for some young talent who ain't ready....gealish nd Kane got there chances nd used it well, so as coqelin
But all dis akpom, sanogo et al we dnt need dem ATM...BTW Southampton nd Barcelona academy are far better Dan us...
Does dat mean day don't buy players??
AW makes sure all players get their chance depending on aw day use it.....I very sure any little set back dis coming season we are going down cos all teams are ready....even d lower rank teams
Continue ur stat ooo I'm sure dat will win u leagues in pes or fifa

@sod, you really need to learn. Loaning a player out doesn't mean he is bad. In fact it means you have plans for him. Jenkinson just signed a new 5 year contract.

It is easy to just say Wenger should sign this sign that, but if you have been in the system, a good coach knows that signings doesn't mean success. Good signings does. Ask Tottenham, Man City, Liverpool and biggest of all Man Utd.

I remember when Spurs signed Lamela and Soldado, and people said they will overtake Arsenal for 4th place. Well you know how far.

Man Utd got Di Maria for £59mil or so last season but now they want to sell at less. Now they are signing every dick and harry, but it takes 6months to gel- they saw it last season. Unless you are building a team for the future, more than two additions to the first 11 destroys team structure which is far more important than any individual talent. Whereas only two signings gave Chelsea the league.

For Arsenal, I believe we were ready for the title last season, a poor start due to injuries, fatigue, and loss of form cost us. I really think we have a balanced team even than Chelsea. We have a team that have been built over 5years, that's intent. AF built his winning team for 5years too ('86- '92).

A new striker would always be great, and I hope it happens but lets give these lads a chance to prove themselves. Giroud's stats shows he is in the top 10 bracket for best strikers. Theo's finishing equals even Ronaldo's, just that he hasn't had a full season- same as what happened to RVP, but when he did he got 57 goals over two seasons. You don't like stats? Then your education is faulty.

I saw our home game against Chelsea last season, they were scared of us.

This sod09 is really bitter about Wenger. The thing is Wenger is going to be Arsenal manager till he agrees to hang his football brain. So sit up and stop being bitter about the team you claim to support. What Arsene Wenger sees, you obviously don't see it.

it's easy to forget we had no money to spend for ten years when we built the emirate... play PES manager or Football manager without transfer fees and know something's are harder than Nigeria's problem... that's why the board can never sack Arsene Wenger... asking for 4th pace was far fetched with the calibre of players we had... that's why Henry left... they couldn't come out to say it... but the players knew... some fans knew... but it's easy to pick on arsenal... but now the tables are turned... can we do the treble... with Cech and Kos in defence... Coq and Ozil in midfield... Sanchez and Walcott in attack... exciting times ahead... I've booked my 2:30 pm date today with arsenal... if I show as much commitment as I show to arsenal... I probably would be married by now... still reading 'fever pitch...' I would have borrowed a quote...think about it... ask those players Arsene Wenger missed... no be money cos am...?! C. Ronaldo was one... People call that man Baba Ijebu... but you can't spend what you don't have...

Arsenal for the fa cup treble

Yay

Spy360

Was it financial challenges and stadium issues that led to the piss poor performance by scz and kos in the 2011 carling cup final or not playing arshavin in 2009 facup semi against chelsea even though he was cup tied in champions League and would not play

Was it the reason we lost woefully to Bradford in the year Swansea won the league cup

Was it the reason we conceded 2 goals against Hull in ten minutes in A freaking FINAL...

You guys are so wengerphiiac

You can't see he can't defend for shît
pass pass pass

Did u notice how comfortable the win over Aston Villa when we took shots from distance this facup win

Good to see y'all keeping this thread alive.

Personally we only really need one more signing this summer and it has to be a 15-20 goal a season striker. Welbz is still finding his feet and Sirnogo...ahmean Sanogo still has a lot of development ahead of him.

I do hope the likes of Walcott and Sanchez stay fit, as their goal contribution could remove the need for an additional striker, but I don't think it's realistic to rely on them for the whole season.

I disagree with Proudly mentioning DD and Remy for Chelski - how many goals did they score last season? The key I agree was failing to score in those draws vs Chelski and the Scumtwats from Manchester and some other games we drew unnecessarily.

We also didn't get enough goals from midfield, bar Sanchez. We need the likes of Rambo to chip in with similar numbers as he did in 2012/13.

@sod

Take it easy Bro. There's nothing in my post that says we shouldn't buy players.

During our 'desert' years, I was on and off about AW. There were times I would get angry at his team selection (like when he would play Senderous ahead of Toure at CB and play Toure at RB cheesy) and just wish that we replaced him and there were times when with perspective, I wanted him to continue.

Today with benefit of hindsight, I can say I am glad we held on to him. Not because he didn't make mistakes in team selection and maybe even player recruitment, but because when you look at the collapse of teams like ManU after the departure of Sir Alex, the up and down performance of Chelsea when Mour left them, the rollercoaster performance of fans' favourite as Wenger successor - Klopp, etc then you would see that keeping top 4 position during our desert years was not a mean feat. You should also realise that we needed the money from Champ's league to pay us our debts quickly and get us into the position we are today where we can bring in some of the best players in the world.
Did he make mistakes in those years, ofcourse he did. He's human afterall. But look at Mourinho at Chelsea and see how much he has 'wasted' over the years to win trophies. People have forgotten some expensive flops like Kezmann, Torres, Wright Phillips, Yuri Zhirkov, etc. Recently ManU bought Di Maria and we quaked in our boots. I hear he's on his way to PSG now after his average performance. Arsene made similar mistakes too but we didn't spend tens of millions on them.

Now we are in a position where we can spend big money and compete with some of the big teams. We've moved from waiting 6 months so we can get Chamakh for free to signing Ozil and Alexis from Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively. We have moved from recalling Jens Lehmann from retirement to signing Petr Cech from our rivals Chelsea. For two/three seasons now, we have not been forced to sell any of our big players and instead we are acquiring more. I personally believe that we should give Arsene a chance to build his team. He has definitely earned it.

Welcome back bro. You and dudu have passed on the mantle of long epistles. cheesy cheesy

I just checked online. Remy scored 7 goals in 21 games for Chelsea and Drogba scored 4 in 28 games. Welbz scored 4 goals in 28 for us. (I actually thought Welbz scored more. Shocked at the stats tbh).

That said, I think what was key for Chelsea was the fact that Costa and Hazard were available for long periods last season and in the few games Costa wasn't available, the substitutes (Remy/Drogba) stepped up. For us, if I remember correctly, asides from not being available for a a month or so, Giroud also had a period when he had that issue with Wenger. As I showed some pages ago, the games we lost last season, Giroud was either a late substitute or didn't feature at all. That's not counting the ones we drew. Says a lot really.

I totally agree with you on Ramsey and others stepping up. I think for Ramsey, it's a case of Cazorla taking his place in the team for most parts of the season. So perhaps we need Santi to score more goals in games that matter.

Why should we sell Monreal?

Good game. Provided opportunity for the boys to stretch their legs and get much needed game practice.
Akpom hattrick and Wilshere scored too.
As predicted, Iwobi dI'd well, same as Akpom. Crowley and Toral came in second half and did well too. Bellerin showed why he's currently ahead of Debuchy.
We play Everton on Saturday. They should give us stiffer competition

Like I said... Akpom was the first to resume training... nigga has worked too hard to go on loan... he would rather rot on the bench than go on loan... bar another injury crises... no more signing... besides which striker is available...?!

Iwobi though... impressive stuff... brilliant football from everyone involved in today's game...

I wouldn't advise you to read much into today's games. Whilst not taking anything from Akpom's performance today (I'm a fan as I've said over and over and over...you get my drift cheesy ), I will like to remind you that Sanogo scored a hatrick (or even 4 goals) against much tougher opposition last season and was still sent on loan.

May I ask @iPopAlomo, which do you think will do any good for Akpom's development?

* sitting on the bench at Arsenal (may not even get to sit on the bench as I explained earlier)
* or playing competitive football week in week out

Just wondering.

My opinion: Akpom will turn out well eventually but he needs regular football above U21 level.

A loan deal at Watford/Burnemouth will be useful
