UmmTwins2, Did your doctor carry out an internal examination to determine whether your cervix is closed or open?

Was a test done to see if you have a UTI?

Have you tried pain relievers? Eg. Paracetamol + codamol?

I had something similar over two days and I had to go to the hospital (I think I was 23weeks or so). I had full tests done. There was this swab test that was done called "FFN" (google it). It's used for checking for signs of preterm labour and the results are out in minutes.

All my tests came out clear/fine and I was given one off 2tabs of paracetamol with another pain killer (I will check my maternity notes and I will get back you) while I was at the hospital.

I went home, put myself on 3days self imposed bedrest. I took 2tabs of codamol everyday for the next two days and the contractions stopped.

My dear, are you having twins? Was there any vaginal examination done before this drug was recommended? Are you having any form of discharge?

I wouldn't worry jsut because my braxton hicks are getting stronger as long as they eventually go away which means I am not falling into premature abour.

I personally hate to take drugs when I am pregnant except if there is a very dire and urgent need for it. I have never heard or taken this drug and I wouldn't know if there is any other reason why your doctor recommend it for you but if it's just Braxton hicks? It leaves me wondering.

Pls read the link below to help you better decide if you really need to use any drug with its significant side effects just for Braxton hicks.

thanks to everyone for ur prayers and congratulatory messages..we say amen and amen..birth story I was. @ school [ilorin] unprepared cos Edd as being controversial july,august.I was sleeping when I discovered d bed was wet and I taught it was wee because my babies had been resting on my bladder..When I woke up I realised it was my water that has broken b4 leaving 4 d hospital baby one was out and then d second baby,all in less than two hours.we left 4 d hospital in d morning baby one was diagnosed of jaundice and treated.it has being God all through.Blessed be his name

Pls continue watching the movements and if it is really getting closer together, then maybe you should specifically request for a vaginal exam otherwise, I see nothing to fear in these movements you have just described. I suspect your pikin just like to dey play football well well

I had a similar experience of braxton hicks, and all I had to do was to reduce my workloads, drank ALOT of water and observed some strict bed rest for some days till i felt strong enough to 'jump around again'.

The bulge moving in your lower abdomen could be that you've got a low-laying baby in the uterus. USS would reveal this.

Okay, did they send you for any ultrasound? Are you well rested, do you drink enough fluids? All these things could cause the contractions. Braxton Hicks at this stage of pregnancy should be mostly painless. As someone who actually took a few doses of the salbutamol, mehn, it made me feel worse. But mine was actual contractions and they confirmed with uss /ve before prescribing the drug.

I woke up this morning with serious waist and back pain and I just knew its today even though my EDD was 21st july.
I was just having lose stools and the pain refused to go.
We packed my bags into the car and off to the hospital to get checked
I got to the hospital by 5.30am and told the nurse on duty to check me,she checked and said I was already 7cm dilated.
I was asked not to leave the labour room but lie on my side while everything was been set.
By 6.45am I told the nurse on duty I wanted to poo and she check and asked me to poo poo very hard as I was fully dilated.With 2 pushes my handsome son came into this world weighing 2.93kg witout any tear.

Present o. #team December. Mine dey show very well. Like I've done 3/4 of the journey,lol. Probably because it's double sha. With previous pregs it wasn't this obvious at this stage. No m/s sha. Just this terrible pelvic and back pain that started around the time I discovered I had conceived. Makes moving around so difficult and painful. Really can't wait to see my LOs.
