Confusion Of 2003 Lexus Rx300 And 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe by freshvine(f): 11:26am On Jul 14, 2015 |
I went to a car lot to pick a vehicle of my choice which preferably is the popular Lexus rx300 but got confused on the lot due to the availability of several brands and cheaper prices. I was told the price for a particular extreme clean Rx300 is 2.150m naira and an equally clean 2007 Hyundai Santa fe for 2million naira. I was confused at that point and decided to head home to seek the inputs of Auto gurus here before making a choice. My question is why will an old model of Lexus RX be more costlier than a newer model of Hyundai despite the fact that the Rx300 is almost found everywhere like a taxi in this part of the town I reside. secondary, what are likely the maintenance costs and durability between both brand? Are both vehicle luxury vehicles? Please enlighten me |

2.150m for an rx300 is a rip of The toks of dt car shouldn't exceed 1.7m I don't even know why that Lexus still turns our head tho it has a nice interior, spending 2.150 for a 2003 car doesn't make sense to me pls go for d Sante fe Lexus is a luxury brand so it's expensive but not up to the price quoted for dt ur own rx300 About maintenance it's average If u cn afford 2.2m For a car then The maintenance of both vehicles is nothing Even this days you'll get full option rx330 BTW 2.5-2.9 5 Likes |

Lexus- luxury export of united state of America. Though should not be up to 2.150. But just bear in mind that both are not of the same clearing charges. Most definitely the lexus cost more. 2.150m is far way high 1 Like |

Logician:What's your problem and this Toyota ish? The gentleman is torn between a 2003 Lexus RX 300 & a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe, here. You are throwing Highlander into the mix. Is the Lexus not a Toyota? He has narrowed his choices to just these two and here you are sounding off. Its peeps like you that makes Toyota overpriced in the market. Back to Topic. The Lexus is a luxury car, while the Hyundai (with reference to your choices above) is not. The Lexus most likely as seen the road more (except if it is a salvage or lemon) than the Hyundai. Personally, I would go for the Hyundai because I prefer a recent car to any old car except for Classic cars... |

Readonee35L: My exact thought! We are not even sure the RX300 is a 2003 model. OP just stated that it's RX300. It can be any year from 1999. @topic: I'll advice you to bargain more on the RX300 if it's a 2003 model but if it's older, I'll go for Santa Fe. Modified: I just saw in the topic that it's a 2003 model RX300 |

Op, just buy the Santa fe. The rx300 is too expensive for that price. If the Santa fe is GLS awd even better. No doubt I love Lexus, but the rx300 looks old. The head lamps and indicator lights looks like something from the 80's. Would have been the other way round if it was rx330 even if it is the 2004 model. 1 Like |

Bro, RX300 tends to consume more fuel after a little while, coupled with the facT that it's 03 model, go for the Santa fe, recent year, economy and luxury, u can install dvd and rev cam for as low as 40k. You'll enjoy it. |

Logician:Go back and repeat school. You'll need it a lot. Thank me later... OP, I think the Hyundai would do you a lot of good. Hyundais are just being underrated for nothing. Its a car you would most def not regret buying. The Koreans have come a long way and carved a niche for themselves. Enjoy innovation woith the Hyundai... 1 Like |

Abi you think say I be winch? That was so Dumbo... Meanwhile, OP I hope you've made your choice before someone else comes around to add Toyota 4Runner into the mix. Lolz... |

It is also "...error in the phrase..." and not "on the phrase". So much for someone who is advising a better schooled person to go back to school. I SMHFU... |

People just get rip off for this Toyota things, meanwhile this particular hyped priced Lexus RX series are rebadged Toyota(s) Harrier the most hated brand among Lexus enthusiast(except Nigerians), because it is believe to have been stripped down, evidenced in the stripped down front wheel driven mechanism etc. Unlike other Lexus brand, a lot seems to have been compromised here. In other words, it is more or less a glorified Camry that is just raised by a few inches from the ground, cheapened down for buyers, but unfortunately hyped up for Nigerians who just follow trend blindly. The 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe is by far a better cross over to the RX300, though almost of same class to the RX330 and RX350. Don't confused the fully loaded luxury brand Lexus GL to the stripped down Lexus RX series... 2 Likes |

Re: Confusion Of 2003 Lexus Rx300 And 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe by abatically(m): 10:28pm On Jul 18, 2015 |
auhanson: Uuuum, in this situation I will choose the Hyundai. But please, the Lexus RX is not over hyped. It is a very solid luxury cuv in its class and it is respected worldwide, not just in Nigeria like u say. It is not a glorified camry either. Lexus RX has been on top of the highest selling luxury cars in the USA for many years, if it is that bad like u put it, then it wouldn't be on top. Just do a little research of best selling luxury cuv in north america and see for urself or are the people buying them in those countries niegeians? Consumer reports don't lie. Also the Santa fe is 2007, RX 300 was discontinued in 2003 while RX 330 was discontinued in 2006. Compare the Santa fe with RX 350 and then the RX will kick its a$s and chew the bones. To you peope everything is glorified camry. Avalon glorified camry, highlander glorified camry, Prado glorified camry, Lexus GX glorified Camry, landcruiser glorified camry, Lexus LX glorified camry, even Lexus LS is glorified camry. |

Readonee35L: N1.7m might not always be a max tag for a very clean{Clean title )RX300. A flawless 2003 RX300 wont sell for less than $4,000 in the USA , trucking and shipping could take up to $1,200 or more, wire transfer charge would comfortably takes its own share of $100 while clearing in Lagos would take N420,000. Giving the prevailing exchange rate of N242 to a Dollars then we already have a little over N1.7m to land it in Lagos .Dealer return on investing his N1.7m is not included already . NOTE - Most of the N1.7m and lower buyers see are salvage vehicles (we) dealers repair thus able to sell lower but note that not all buyers want to drive repair/refurbished salvage cars. @OP .go for the Lexus at a fairly priced down price . Best of Luck. 1 Like |

femmy2010: Oga I deal with cars too, But it doesn't make sense spending 2.2M on a rx300 be it 01,02 or 03 Mind you not all rx300 BTW 1.4 -1.7 are salvage Matters on the dealer, also depends on getting a good deal, And that car op is talking about has been imported b4 d rise in dollar .. Rather than me spending such on a 2003 vehicle, there are other options and good deals to invest 2.2m on Have seen lots or cool deals, lots of clean titled rx330 going for 2.3-2.5 e.t.c that doesn't mean it's the standard price |
