I would take t V-boot without skipping a heart beat. the bmw 5 series is one fuggly machine. thought the mercedes may be huge but it's finner than the bemmer. if am going the V-boot way, my choice will be a E200 or E230 but I like the E200 looks like a padded and we'll designed 190E with an inline 4 cylinder engine injector not the carburetor package. the W124 has tons of engine configuration almost like 10 or more, 2.0, 2.2, 2.3, 2.6, 2.8, 3.0, 3.2 and the V8 version 500E which I doubt you will ever come across in naija. the most fuel efficient are the D badged variants with diesel engine but are rear and cost more to acquire than their petrol variant the 200E does 22city and around 28highway I found out in my research on this ride that the best rev for the car to enjoy optimum fuel economy is 2k rpm doing 70km/h. 1 Like |

I think the v boot is a better choice the parts are readily available and easy to upgrade to a c class engine if you want to. I think mechanics are pretty familiar with the car. 1 Like |

LEX4352:funny enough, the car was crazy strong and reliable. It was a 525 so the fuel consumption wasn't too friendly on student pockets. We had an accident once, car hit another car on the express, lost control and spun into the bushes. We waited a little while, started the engine and still clocked 160kmph on the journey back with the body work all battered. It's a lovely car. |

nurey: What is the truth about high fuel consumption in mercedes benz cars? |
Re: 1994 BMW 5 Series Vs 1994 Mercedes Benz by nurey(m): 3:12pm On Jul 17, 2015 |
idu1: I have never owned a benz before but my dad used 3 regular benz and one very clean V_boot E200 the regulars always gave problems but interm of fuel economy I wasn't enlightened then just knew he used 1000k fuel every week then pump price was 22 naira for the regular ones. as for the V-boot it was one quick moda4ka and very reliable and wasn't a fuel guzzler and it was always a side attraction cause his was as clean as he'll, manual with full blast AC. the major problem people face with the V-boot is it has close to 10 petrol engine variants from i4 to V8 with multiple litre engine also there are two forms of feeding the engine with petrol INJECTOR and CARBURETOR. if the engine is carburated and you don't take care of the carburetor which needs washing and filter replacement then expect high fuel consumption. the E200 and E230 to me are still ok with their 4cylinder engine but the E260, 280, 300, 320, are V6 while the E500 is a V8 powered vehicle. so when u using E320 and our friend is using E200 don't expect the same fuel economy. 1 Like |
