With the quality midfield maybe an in form Di Maria would be preferred to Mata but it has to be an in form Di Maria. D i maria has a higher ceiling than Mata but is inconsistent and has a much lower floor/bottom level.
I do not rate Rojo , i suspect he would be found out and exposed this season.

He's not a striker but he can play off the striker. Considering we'll mostly be using 1 upfront as we are blessed with so many attacking players. I see Di maria likely to create space if we went for a Cavani etc.

He is not good enough defensively in the air to be a starting CB in my opinion and he is not quick or technically sound enough to be a starting LB. He is at best a squad player.

Cavani is on a downward spiral, Lewy is the way to go...Good hold up play, ball control, powerful shot, aerial strength, good dribbling skills, age is on his side and lots more...Pay up for him already Ed

He said he would get a chance. At the least i think VanG would assess him over this pre-season and give him a 2nd look and a decent opportunity to shine, he should seize his chance like Ashley Young.

I tell you, i can only assume people were hyping him because of frustration with jones and smalling.
IMO he is more easily fooled and also makes a number of questionable tackles in and around the box., most coming off now but when he starts getting unlucky with them he might be a red card magnet.

Well he said he was coming back after a preamble explaining he was loaned out cos of RVP and Falcao who have bought now left.
However it goes i am certain we are not starting the season with only rooney and wilson ( chicharito would leave only if we got a top notch striker in)
