The only snag is that this "majestic-ness" you are talking about would only be applicable to clubs like sporting Lisbon, spartak Moscow, Fulham etc and definitely not a big club with huge expectations like ours.

reading the game, positioning an awareness would lead to interceptions and clearances.....low risk moves.
a tackle is a high risk move usually needed to cover for poor awareness or positioning.

Absolutely!... Don't think you'll find a Legendary defenders whose biggest strength was last ditch tackling.

It looks great on the eye or on tv but it sure isn't great defensive play. Plus let's be honest it shows that defender lacks footballing IQ.

Smalling was easily our best CB last season & Rojo came in just ahead of Jones. for all the stats that will suggest Jones was our best CB, we all know he wasn't.
