Hello All, I've noticed (over the past few years browsing through Nairaland) that posters repeat queries that have already been attended to by other well-meaning folk on the thread. I would like to suggest a simple way to avoid frustration for those who need immediate answers and those who have done their best to provide the same answer on numerous occasions. If you have an issue, just type out your question on google and add "nairaland" immediately after your query. You are immediately given links on Nairaland that pertain to your particular issue and are taken directly to a page that concerns you. No need to wade through hundreds of pages. Hope this helps! I would like to use this opportunity to appreciate Justwise, Vicjustice and others. I have referred to Nairaland on numerous occasions in the past. Sometimes for entertainment, sometimes for knowledge. Vicjustice, your acerbic wit takes some getting used to but you have been a constant over the years and that sure counts for something. Justwise, you do not lose your temper--at least on site--and you remain a fair, yet sound, voice of reason. Cheers! 7 Likes |

So far Ikeja centre is faster dan VI centre. And rumours hv it that applications submitted at VI is processed in Sheffield while for Ikeja it's processed here in Lagos (I stand to be corrected) I applied b4 at d VI centre, it took 10days before I did biometrics and yeah d lady dt attended to me said my appl will be sent to sheffield. Another 2weeks for a decision to be taken, and 1 more week to get my passport. May 29 - July 02. Too long jare, I dnt hv much time so I submitted another online and will be doing biometrics in 2days time. Yea, I picked Ikeja centre. Let ppl wey dey naiJa decide on it biko .Don't knw exactly wt d 18k is for. kennycanny: |

Same thing. Apply online, submit. Then book appointment, select VI centre and pay the visa fee only. Go and do biometrics on d appointment date and submit ur docs. Go home and pray. It will take time sha mamateniola1: |

mamateniola1: 1. Yes you are. 2. Normal visitor's visa like am actually going from Lagos? 3. You will be given an appointment date when you will visit the visa center to submit the same set of documents and application form you submitted online and do biometric, they can also call you in for an interview the same day. 4. Yes you book appointment after the online application 5. I read that here but i got no info about it. The info is about 3-4 pages back in this thread and you can also find the amount in the same application form. |

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by blank(f): 9:17pm On Jul 16, 2015 |
@jlo4ever, don't make the mistake of putting your total savings amount as monthly income drone investments. They are asking of how much interest accrues to you on a monthly basis from your savings. They want to be able to analyze your bank statement appropriately. As for treasury bills, put the difference between the face value and value at maturity divided by the number of months you held it. Then explain in the additional info that it is a treasury bill and you will receive it at maturity. Include your treasury bill certificate. Remember that the treasury bill will not be part of amount available to you for your trip except if it will have matured before the trip. |

Iyaaliyah, I read on the UK visa website that applicants don't need to submit hotel and flight reservations except they request for it. That's why I didn't bother. I wrote the name and address of the hotel on my form tho. Caveat: please I'm not advising people to do this iyaaliyah: |

OGreene: Nothing wrong with that but you need to state clearly if you are going on holiday or a conference so as not to get things mixed up. |

Hi all, I would like to share our story with you back in June 2012 my husband was refused a visa as the spouse of a UK citizen one of the reasons was his fingerprints had been mixed up with another person who was looking for a visa at the same time (this person had a conviction against his name) and must also have had my husband’s fingerprints attributed to him. Trying to convince people this had happened was virtually impossible, I approached everyone I could think of including my local member of parliament who helped me get a letter to the right department of the home office. It was a couple of months before the home office agreed there had been a mix up. We were told that we could, when called by the embassy in Abuja, re-submit the paperwork for the visa. Once again my husband’s refusal was upheld as they did not believe our relationship was subsisting, the decision had already been made before we sent the new evidence in. We tried the EU Irish rout but that was not as strait forward as we first thought (and a whole story on its own). We submitted the appeal in august 2012, we did not hear back from the home office until January 2013 with a date for the tribunal. It was set for the 4th of April 2013. Getting a new bundle together took weeks everything was scanned, printed copied, dated and meticulously indexed I left nothing to chance. We decided against a solicitor, I represented my husband, we decided as long as we told the truth and gave all the relevant information and proved everything my husband would be granted a visa, Our bundle was over 300 pages and in the determination from the judge he praised how organised I was he was also moved by the fact each of my close family members wrote statements about my husband and I together. To prepare for our case I went to the courts to watch a similar case the week before our case was due to be heard to see how the system worked and how to best address everyone it was very informative. The day our case was heard was one of the longest in my life our case was heard last and lasted almost an hour and 20 minutes of being asked questions by the judge and then cross examined by the home office representative. It was 5 weeks before the judge made a decision in our favour. My husband flew back from Nigeria in July 2 years ago. This week he has just received his ILR. The most important piece of information I would give to anyone is get as much evidence that your relationship is subsisting. Photos, tickets from events you both attended proof of telephone calls between yourselves over the time of your relationship every little piece of evidence you have and DATE IT ON THE FRONT, embassy staff don’t turn things over to look for dates. Don’t be tempted to forge anything where you have gaps write why there is a gap, index and date everything I can’t say it enough, an extra 2 or 3 weeks getting all your proof together could save you 18 months of being apart. I wish you all good luck. 6 Likes |

Good day house. Please I have an issue I will like someone to advice me on. I wish to attend my younger brother's convocation in September. I want to use my salary acct but I don't get a fixed amount as monthly salary simply because I usually have some casual staffs' salaries added to mine and paid into my account and I have to pay them by hand monthly. For the past 6months, my salary shows between 400k and 700k. But I have my monthly payslips which do not tally with the deposits in my salary account. Please how do I convince the visa officer about this? Also there are some deposits of lump sums( 800k and 600k) in my account. These were given to me by my boss to carry out renovation works in the hospital because I am the administrative manager in charge of all administrative and financial duties. Please I will appreciate suggestions on how to go about this. Thanks |
