I went through the link u sent me. They categorically stated that people going for weddings,annual conferences or tourism are not entitled to expedited appointment. Alternatively, I want to know if rescheduling for another conference will contradict the information I supplied on my DS160,becos I already filled that I will be attending a conference on the 30th of aug and leave the US on the 3rd of sept. Call the embassy. They'll tell you to fill a new ds160 and send a mail with the new ds160 number and passport page. It takes about two days to get done so make sure you make the call as soon as possible and way before your appointment date. They will effect the change on your appointment I.e. Put the new ds160 on your booking confirmation . They'll let you know when this is done.

I'm not a Visa Officer but this sounds like someone who just wants to go to the USA at all costs.

First off, this is an annual conference, which means you should have known about it way before now and applied for a visa ahead of schedule.

Two, If this conference is all you really want to go for, then there would be no need to travel to the USA anymore since you can't find a date. You can wait for next year's conference, or until you have another event that you'd like to attend.

Trying to now change from one conference to another throws up a red flag. And I'm willing to bet you'll be denied. For the first conference, because it's past the date.

For the second, because it's smacks of desperation.

My advice to you (and this is my opinion, not expert advice) would be to contact the embassy and put a hold on your application so you can use the visa fee for a future application. Or simply attend the interview, explain to the visa officer that your interview came too late for the conference and you'd like to withdraw the application. I don't know if that will count for something at your next interview, but I'm pretty sure it won't hurt.

I was in a similar situation with another country. Applied for a visa for a major event. It took them a fair few weeks to process the visa. The day after the event ended, they were still processing. I simply went in, closed my application and withdrew my passport as there was no further need for me to travel.

I'm sure this is not what you want to hear. But unless you have other plans in mind and not just this conference, this is as good as it gets

Bro,thanks for your advice...it's not like am desperate to travel to d US.The conference has different schedules in different states every month.Am not registering for another conference,i intend writing to the conference organizers to send me an invitation letter for another date.(the available conference dates are sept 18,oct 2,nov 18,dec 4) The conference is on cancer therapy,and am a Nurse working with the navy.The mistake I made was that I submitted my Ds160 b4 checking up for an available appointment,which was not clever of me,though I have learnt from my mistake.

Hello house, my brothers were not allowed in for interview cos barcode on their DS-160 is different from the appt. It happened on Friday 16th July. We have tried to book a fresh date with their receipt, still it's not going having stated in a letter given to them that after 2days their receipts can be use to make another appointment. I have had people DM me for opinions then refuse it... Cos they already have their minds made up or they believe 'I am different' or a shortcut exists. It gets tiring to be d voice of doom

Kelvdim truth is a hard pill to swallow but surely, u should know that if your reason for travel has been overtaken, then the application is moot?

Did your 'agent' print out the pages of your ds160 application ? Why did you use an agent sef when you can do it yourself?

Agents don't like to give out information because you could then see how easy it is to apply and how little they do for your money!

how many times can you change appointment for a visit visa.the available dates are so far gone.

You can do it yourself. Did he print out the pages of the DS160 application because this is the basis of your interview . I don't see what the agent can do for you that you can't for for yourself . Well except if he's providing you with some 'documents'

thanks i filled in the form that am in the person paying for the trip bcoz am in my leave. the V O asked me what is the company sending me for the training program? and i said so that i am more active for them. why i didn't fill it in
my form. i believe i would have told him that am in my 3 months leave nt the company sending me

You can't be talking about God's grace and favour when you present false information and fake documents. Scaring the visa applicant off the application is actually us doing him a favour. Unless you know what the agent has filled in on your DS160 and can verify that all the information is correct, you are halfway to a denial and possible ban from the Consulate.

Using an agent blindly for a US Visa Application is more dangerous than you applying blindly.

True that.
We only give opinion. But my point is, some folks ask for advise, get it and then refuse to take it. And get denied.
For example, in this forum if u read back you see tons and tons of avice thus 'don't use agents' or 'be honest'
But they go and come back with denials.
Now. If I may. I am a christian and believe in favour BUT God himself is a GOd of order and when a basic requirement is required, God no de do ojoro.
Again, IMO visit visa is for grooving and not a do or die affair. I believe God spends more time on world peace, poverty , securing jobs to feed the family and the propagation of the kingdom. (My opinion remember)
