Personally, I think good and bad people exist in all cultures irrespective of race. I also think it's wrong to paint all members of a particular gender from a country with the same brush, that in itself is prejudice.

That said, I would most likely end up with a foreign lady, not because I choose to, but because they are the only ones who exist within my social and/or professional network. Most Nigerians in the diaspora date foreign ladies because they live/work/socialize in environments where the only ladies therein are non-Nigerians. My current GF is Kenyan, the one before her was French-Moroccan, the one before her was British; I have never dated a Nigerian lady since I emigrated from Nigeria.

I understand the problem quite well.

When my brother came visiting from the UK in 2004 after leaving in 2001, he exclaimed that Nigerian girls like money too much. It was then subconsciously that I knew he would marry a foriegner. He is married to a Slovak, a very nice girl.

The problem is the mentality. A Nigerian girl usually wants an already made guy. The white lady is ready to marry you despite you being a pauper and that is the lot of most Nigerians there.

Another problem is that it is unwise for 2 Nigerian immigrants to marry. The primary reason why both of you travelled is to make money and this usually super-cedes anything else including devotion to your spouse.

Both parties are committed to the god of money rather than their marriage vows or their kids. They barely have time for each other and their kids. Sending money home is priority. A split is just by the corner.

A girl you bring from here has an over rosy impression of life in the West and is hit by the shock of the true standard of living of her spouse after the wedding and sojourning. She is completely unprepared for this and wahala go start and before long, you hear divorce!

Its not the same with a foreign girl who knows whats up. She will even accept your broke ass and manage with you.

Guys listen to yourself...we should stop cutting down on sisters. Marriage is give and take (50/50). Note that when married to a foreigner you would always be the cook because, she can't cook your country food you would be fed with junk foods. I passed through it, hey, it wasn't easy. I started eating Nigerian/organic foods as soon as i met my Nigerian wife. Not all Nigerian women are evil. Come to think about it, most Nigerian men cheats, are drunk and hit on their wives due to their low mentality (African mentality). Learn how to respect your wife and same shall return back to you, respect is reciprocal. Note that hitting your wife in Western world would end you up in jail. Most Nigerian men need to grow up and stop their barbaric attitude. I knew that 45% of you guys commenting against our Nigerian women are still living with your parents in your parents basement. As for me I would prefer to be a Father in catholic church than Marry a Nigerian Girl in Abroad I hate how most of them are Quick to summit to be a runs Girl when they find the heat of survival hard to bear. after making money in Runs then they either relocate to another country or move to other state where they can pretend to be Aunty Marylove and act saint for J.J.C that just enter into the country. They are the type that says age is just a number love is what matter most when they are in late 30's. Well, I don't think so. I don't think it's necessary. I do believe that wives should respect their husbands AS MUCH AS the husbands should respect their wives, but that's it.

I'm tired of reading in this forum "women must be like this, women must do this...". Let us be, we're human beings just as men are, and as free to be ourselves as men are.
