Barrister Calistus Nwabueze Obi has taken over as the Acting Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) following the handing over by Dr. Ziakede Patrick Akpobolokemi as directed by the Federal Government.

Barrister Obi who until this appointment was the Executive Director, Maritime Labour and Cabotage Services in the Agency brings over two decades experience in the public sector, law practice and the maritime industry to this new responsibility.

Born on May 1, 1964 Barrister Obi who hails from Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State studied Law at the University of Nigeria Nsukka and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1991 after duly completing the mandatory studies at the Law School. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.

The Acting DG is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), member of the International Bar Association (IBA), Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators amongst membership of several other professional associations. Mr. Obi is married with children.

It is very convenient for you to mention merit, now that it is "our" brother, but you will cite nepotism and northernization, when the name is 'Balarabe Danjuma'! I really pity Nigeria with this our mentality.

Hope is based on merit not based on Biafra pressure.
Cuz the biafrans have already made their decision to stick to the old ways and dine with PDP when it so obvious the party is unpopular and sinking but yet This people stick to them. Wonder why the issue of Biafra never died out? They hate change and prefer the old ways aka status qou.

Thesame man they refused to vote for have appointed their son as DG of one of the most lucrative government agency. Even GEJ appointed his brother (the sacked ijaw man), to tell you how lucrative that agency is. Carry on Baba, you will be vindicated.

A very good research would show that Nwabueze Obi spent most of his life in the North like Okorocha and Zik. Sound research would also reveal that, for all practical purposes, the man is Fulani since na only dem dey Waka come lipsrsealed

These are the kinds of Ibomen that should make d region proud and lead its revival with the Odimegwus( former MD of Guinness& member of the transition committee);the Ogbonnaya Onus,the Obianos & probably Ngige, etc.
There are many of such honest,dedicated and brilliant Ibomen and women scattered all over who in true Igbo fashion and tradition can hold their own and come out in flying colors wherever they find themselves;not the many ultra corrupt,ar se licking and utterly destabilizing, ethnic bigots the PDP bred.
