luxanne: Not too far. I selected four primary schools, got my sample from them. I distributed questionnaire to them - it has English n Maths questions.... If they do pretty well, I'll conclude that Cartoons make children perform excellently - academically and maybe, just maybe, it should be adopted as a teaching aid in primary schools I'm in Chapter 3. Mass communication researches have 5 Chapters. |

Re: Forum Games Chat Thread - A Thread For All Fun Lovers by luxanne(f): 8:54pm On Jul 21, 2015 |
Emmyk: I see. Hehe you want cartoons adopted in their curriculum? What kind if I may ask? Yes I know children learn faster with pictorial images but then again, I also think such teaching aids should be restricted to the creche levels and maybe extended to the nursery levels as well. But why use primary school pupils? I would have rather preferred secondary school pupils being used for the project because of their cognitive processes being more developed or better yet a combination of both pupils. And is 4 primary schools enough to draw such conclusions? |

Emmyk:I thought all B.Sc projects d get 5 chapters. My own been get 5 chapters. About your research, my interest there is to know how it affects young kids and try making a decision based on your findings. Don't really know how your data will be calculated but would be happy if you can disclose it to me especially....... I'm serious about being interested in your research. |

luxanne: Good questions. Not at all should it be adopted in their curriculum, just saying that educational cartoons should be shown to pupils after class, cartoons that relate to what they are taught. No cartoon on my head for now.. And no... not Ben 10 Yes. I was planning to use primary 2 pupils and they are still young. Why use primary school pupils? First, my supervisor gave me the project topic, couldn't complain because I gave him like 6 topics earlier which he rejected. Secondly, I think cartoons are now seen as kids thingy... In the last century, it was not; everyone watched cartoons - it was made for all. Thirdly, I don't know the kind of questions I'll test secondary school students' academic performance base on cartoons that they watch generally but it is easy to sketch clocks in my questionnaire with captions like WHAT SAYS THE TIME, bearing in mind that there are educational cartoons that teach children Time I can't possibly ask secondary school students what's the time. I think it fits primary school pupils... No? Lastly, I think Cartoons educate the kids more If four schools are enough?.. Ehmm I think so That's just my population. If the 4 schools have 1000pupils, I'll still bring out my sample with a sampling technique. I can't distribute 1000 Questionnaire. I'm even kinda confused here on the sampling technique to use. I want my sample to have pupils that have access to TV -Purposive sampling technique... I was told I'll use taro yamane's formula again. Lol. Don't lemme confuse you |

Princeparix: Okay. I was thinking it's only ours that have 5 chapters ni How it affects their academics. That's what I'm researching on, not how it affects them generally. Sure. I'm willing to help |

Re: Forum Games Chat Thread - A Thread For All Fun Lovers by luxanne(f): 2:17pm On Jul 22, 2015 |
Emmyk: Lool. Definitely not those kind. Strictly educational cartoons I agree. Yes. I was planning to use primary 2 pupils and they are still young. So what primary level do you use then? First, my supervisor gave me the project topic, couldn't complain because I gave him like 6 topics earlier which he rejected. Ouch! That can be very painful. Him rejecting all 6 topics of yours. Anyways, some supervisors are like that, most times these topics they give out are their own personal projects they are either working on or intends to. However, TBH with you, this topic is cool unless you don't find it interesting enough. Secondly, I think cartoons are now seen as kids thingy... In the last century, it was not; everyone watched cartoons - it was made for all. Cartoons now seen as kid's thingy? Children have always been tagged with cartoons but when they've grown up, they still can't let go even in adulthood, lool. And @your second statement, do you have a research as proof on this view of yours? Because I think its the other way round. We should find out. Thirdly, I don't know the kind of questions I'll test secondary school students' academic performance base on cartoons that they watch generally but it is easy to sketch clocks in my questionnaire with captions like WHAT SAYS THE TIME, bearing in mind that there are educational cartoons that teach children Time Questions shouldn't necessarily be based on the cartoons they've watched, it could be general cartoon questions. Besides, the internet would have been helpful with these questions or even your supervisor, that is, if you both have a good resonance, afterall, its his/her topic. BTW, is your supervisor M or F? I can't possible ask secondary school students what's the time. I think it fits primary school pupils... No? Lool definitely not, you can't ask them that. But then again, you would be surprise to find out that, some of these secondary school students do not know how to read time, how about the 24 hours time format? Even adults find that difficult to read. Lastly, I think Cartoons educate the kids more Educational cartoons? I agree. If four schools are enough?.. Ehmm I think so So what number of pupils are you using as case study then? For the sampling technique ideal for your research, rather than using the Purposive sampling technique, how about giving out these questionnaires to pupils who watch cartoons and those who don't, from their responses, it would be effective to compare and draw conclusions...reason why I preferred you'd used the secondary school students instead, well let me not ruin your already made objectives.
You are right here to explain to me when I get confused na, Lool. Like right now, what's the Taro Yamane's formular about? Sounds familiar tho or mabe not. |
