The Punch reports that Kpodo made the call at a news
conference in Yenagoa on July 22, Wednesday.
Speaking with journalists, the factional chairman said the
former president, his wife should be prosecuted for the
alleged looting of Nigeria’s resources.
Kpodo also stated that the acceptance of defectors to the
ruling APC was an illegal action because it provided cover
for corrupt politicians and fake protection against
prosecution by Buhari.
“As a decent state executive, we consider the attempt to
make the APC a dumping ground unacceptable and
vexatious. APC in the state will not allow the party to
become a dumping ground for desperate looters and thieves
in need of protection from prosecution.
“We call on President Muhammadu Buhari to order a detailed
investigation into the acts of fraud and embezzlement by
these defectors and their associates.
“We support the moves by Buhari for the prosecution of
former President Goodluck Jonathan, his wife, Patience
Jonathan and his known associates for the looting and
associated crimes committed against the state,” Kpodo
said.
Earlier this week, constitutional lawyer, Professor Itse
Sagay, threw his weight behind the move to probe ex-
president and his administration, describing it as a move
in the right direction.
Meanwhile, Matthew Iduoiriyekemwen, the Peoples
Democratic Party chieftain and an aspirant in the 2016
governorship election in Edo state, insisted that if Buhari
starts probing the activities of past regimes in Nigeria, he
