4a. Exclusively breastfed babies can be started on water when they are introduced to cereals usually we say 6 months tho 4 -6 months is acceptable in some instances......once they are no longer on breastmilk only, water can be added.
(Gbemisola Boyede, Developmental Paed)

1-2oz per day is just okay

BAD

Honey
Adult milk
Golden Morn
Anything with raw eggs in it e.g Ice Cream
Garri (because of the cyanide content and gummy texture)

Good

Stage 2 formula
Beans (peel the skin first)
okro/ewedu with mashed titus fish
Soft semolina
Pureed fruits e.g avocado, banana
Pureed vegies e.g carrots, broccoli
Fresh fruit juice (if you can make it yourself) e.g apple juice
Cereals/meals e.g cornmeal (ogi), rice cereal (I would advise you start with rice cereal first), oatmeal, mixed grain cereals.

Drink palmwine and then u can give baby formula then when your breastmilk starts flowing you can stop the formula instead of keeping baby hungry

keep taking your pap and put the baby to breast so he can suck that will start the process too. You can also use a breast pump. But before then please get formula, you can stop and continue you EBF once supply starts. Don't worry yourself soon ur clothes will start getting soaked with breastmilk.

Keep taking lots of water....asinnn lots of water. The time it takes for milk to come in, varies. Some women get theirs in a day, while others have to wait a few more days.

Take ogi/pap, if you are tired of drinking plain water....as pap has a high water content.

Pls dont take palmwine. Apart from the fact that it is alcoholic, and can affect your newborn....there is no link between it and milk production.

As for formula, it depends on your pocket. Nan, SMA, Aptamil, Enfamil, Similac (in price ascending order) are all very good.

Please feed your newborn something, so as to prevent physiological jaundice. It is well. Congrats!

Emotion too cld affect milk production. So stop worrying. Its nt abnormal for ur breastmilk nt to hv started flowing.Increase ur fluid intake and keep putting baby to breast. In d meantime, gv d young man formula so he doesnt starve biko.

Please the alcohol in palm wine is not suitable for babies o as it gets passed to your breast milk. That is how social services take babies away from their parent.

Instead of palm wine, next time use brewers yeast. That is what is in palm wine and beer that makes them increase breast milk supply.

Any big pharmacy should have it, even GNC stores in Opebi or Surulere. Get ready to pump and store breast milk o, because if palm wine works immediately brewer yeast is 10 times concentrated and packed with B vitamins.
