I'm sorry, buhari just wasted our common wealth (2.2bn) on fruitless U.S trip. He's now showing to be truly bra*nless as people call him. Where was he when U.S was frustrating GEJ's efforts at getting arms?. Where was he when GEJ's late alliance with east were yielding landslide victories over BH? Yet this old man chosed to make GEJ's initial mistakes and even despised east by not acknowledging their efforts during his swearing-in speech.
I'm sorry and afraid, Buhari may fail woefully if he doesn't retrace his steps.
The man is naïve and archaic in thinking. Though I want him to succeed, for the love of the nation.

The U.S's interest in Nigeria is way bigger than the gay laws everyone seems to be talking about! It's not about the oil either (a little part is though). Nigeria is the only country in Africa that has the makings of a world power. Population, check. Natural resources, check. diversity check.

Now, what people don't understand is that Nigeria's present backwardness and underdevelopment has been artificially engineered by the west post independence to keep us perpetually underdeveloped (I will not go into details). Inflicting such condition on countries that have potential for greatness greatly increases the powers of the suppressors (the west). They sincerely don't want any good for Nigeria cause it affects their own economy. For example, Nigeria is the junkyard of Millions of American used cars, with the automotive policy put in place by GEJ and the high import tariffs put in place for used cars, that will mean a loss of billions of dollars of revenue for the U.S. It's not restricted to cars, but everything! So don't you think they'd fight any genuine development that may be coming our way?

I've said it time and time again, America is the sponsor of boko haram! They seek to destabilize this country just so we'd never really grow.

One reason why I had great respect for GEJ was refused to be used as a puppet and he refused to bow to their wishes of making Nigeria their dumping ground. He knew what he was doing, but Nigerians didn't. They crucified him when he was only looking out for Nigerians. He said one day Nigerian will realise what they had and miss him. That day would most definitely come.


There's something that PMB did which I like though. He asked to purchase weapons and he didn't ask them to come and fight boko haram on our behalf which is the open invitation America is looking for so they'd come and completely destroy Nigeria.



From all assertions, it seems there is something great about Nigeria that the West is trying to subdue...unfortunately we don't even know how Big we are or what they are after.

the north is reaping what they sowed. when ihejirika was defeating boko haram, it was the north that called for his removal. when gej went looking for assistance to curb boko haram activity, it was the north that accused him of sinister motives. when the u.s first agreed to assist in finding the chibok girls, it was the same north that condemned the effort. their actions increased boko haram's strength.

But we wouldn't even mind if economy was moving. Investors keep losing on stock market, Naira falling, prices going up in the market, fuel scarcity returning. In all this Baba keeps spending like oil is sold at $100/barrel. At this pace, the man will ruin our economy. Sadly, he's old but will leave chunk of young that campaigned for him to live to bear the aftermath of his economic/financial recklessness.

U'r right. they even accused Gej of genocide and they kept pressurizing him to grant amnesty to the sect wen he insisted that they act as a gurantor for the sect then he will accede to their demands. They declined knowing the implications.
infact Gej was really passionate about helping and developing the north hence policies were targeting the north even at the detriment of his own region. Dare i say that what Gej did for the north no president has ever done such for them in the history of nigeria. by kicking him out they've done themselves more harm thinking they are spiteing the south.

If only President Mohammed Buhari knew better, he would not have boasted in his campaigns like he did that he will stop boko haram shortly after he's elected president.

If only he knew better, he would not have ordered the removal of military checkpoints, at least not on the roads of the North East.

If only he knew better, he would not have delayed till now before making key appointments into his cabinet so he could give them specific tasks toward looking inwards for solutions to our problems instead of hobnobbing all over the world to merry with two-faced friends of ours.

If only President Buhari knew better, he would not have been fidgetery, jittery, unstable, double-minded, multiple-mouthed and undecided over boko haram's offer of negotiations; he would have stamped his feet on the ground and taken decisive decisions to stem out the sect.

If only Buhari knew better, he would have desisted from making excuses like: 'I wish I was much younger', 'I can't use 2months to fix what the now opposition party used 16years to destroy', etc.

true. i fear the future. i wouldn't even mind the economy has yet to move if he was working, at least it shows effort. no ministry, witch hunting those that opposed him, blaming all his wrong doings on gej, traveling all over the world and not achieving anything from his travels, taking campaign styled pictures. everyday i feel vindicated for casting my vote against buhari

Here is my own gripe, all this stuff about going cap in hand to beg America for weapons is really embarassing.

If BH can manufacture bombs and IED's , what are our own military engineers and war college graduates doing?

Please tell me does Nigeria have a proper weapons research facility? What we need is proper training of our own engineers so we can be able to manufacture our own.

I expected Buhari and co to be searching the globe for professors and teachers in weapon manufacturing to come and run our own facility. It would cost less if we manufactured our own. There are people out there with weapon designs waiting for countries or weapons manufacturing companies to poach them.

That's how you become a military might not by running around looking for who will sell you bullet and shakabula.

If you don't believe me ask India, Pakistan and South Africa.

Violence in Nigeria drives refugees deeper into neighbouring Cameroon, UN agency warns

NEW YORK, 21 July 2015 / PRN Africa / -- Weeks after elections in Nigeria, violence and attacks continue to drive population movements within and outside the country, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner of Refugees (UNHCR) warned today, reporting a “steady flow” of Nigerian refugees now seeking safety some 100 kilometres inside the Cameroon border.

On average, some 100 people daily are registering at UNHCR's Minawao camp in Cameroon – opened in July 2013 – causing a population surge from about 30,000 late last year to approximately 44,000 today.

“In Cameroon's remote Far North Region, a steady flow of Nigerian refugees are moving from the volatile Nigeria-Cameroon border area and seeking shelter some 100 kilometres inland at the Minawao camp,” said Leo Dobbs, spokesperson for the UN refugee agency, at a pressing briefing in Geneva.

The arrivals at the camp are mainly Nigerian nationals who have previously fled to Cameroon to escape violence in north-east Nigeria, but stayed near the border – hoping for a quick return home. The refugees said they had fled militant attacks in Nigeria's Borno state.

In recent weeks, there have been attacks and clashes on Cameroon territory, including a suicide bombing on 12 July, the first such attack in the country, on the far-northern town of Fotokol.

As part of its response to this unrest, the Government of Cameroon has begun registering Nigerian refugees in the immediate border area. UNHCR field staff reported that the registration process provoked fear among some refugees that they might be returned to Nigeria against their will.

Allaying fears, Mr. Dobbs explained, “UNHCR and the Government are in the process of consulting the refugees in the border area about where they want to go – some may opt to return to safe areas in Nigeria, while others may want to move to the Minawao camp. This process will continue over the coming days and weeks.”

Some arrivals said they ran out of food while taking refuge in the border area and hoped for food distributions at the Minawao camp. Many of the newcomers were being temporarily sheltered in a tarpaulin-construction school area currently closed for summer break. Although the school is due to reopen in September, a wood shortage will prevent the construction of community or family shelters for them.

“UNHCR has limited access in the Far North Region for security reasons, but estimates the number of unregistered refugees in the area to be some 12,000. The Cameroonian authorities say this number may be as high as 17,000” said Mr. Dobbs.

In a separate development in southern Niger's Diffa region, over the past few days, authorities reported the arrival of some 2,500 Nigerians – mainly women, children and older people.

Following a militant attack early last week on the Nigerian town of Damassak, people arrived in the border villages of Chetimari and Gagamari, located 20 kilometres from the town. Niger authorities report that they continue to arrive – with 80 per cent Nigerian refugees and the remaining 20 per cent Niger returnees.

“Some of the new arrivals fled their homes last year after a first attack on Damassak and returned only recently. Some refugees are staying with the same host families they stayed with last year while others sleep in the open or in makeshift shelters,” Mr. Dobbs elaborated.

Most new arrivals said they preferred staying in Chetimari and Gagamari rather than the Sayam Forage refugee camp, further inland, hoping to return to Nigeria as soon as possible. Locals have been sharing their meagre resources with them, including water and food. UNHCR teams are unable to access the border area for security reasons.

Mr. Dobbs concluded, “More than 100,000 people have fled Nigeria and found refuge in Niger since mid-2013. The conflict has also displaced 18,400 Nigerians to Chad and left at least 1.5 million people displaced within Nigeria, mainly in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states.”

Unfortunately, PMB had, in his western disposition, completely disregarded the affiliations GEJs gov't had made with the East, and to them he now has to turn and only time will tell how that will turn out.

you are on point! i believed we can make it.GEJ tried as regards to ebola and other sectors only corruption was at peak. our leaders should learn to follow the good path of their predecessors and make amends on their bad path, not unnecessary overhauling.
