May God continue to punish pdp members who ruined Nigeria, what will befall them and their generation will be worse compare to what they did to Nigeria and her citizen. Once again, thank you Lord because you have answered one of my prayer, I.e, you kicked them out of power. I so much believe in buhari not APC, I have seen it all he is the man to lead us into the right part in this country. Among all these political leaders only 4 of them have the country and her citizens at heart; rochas, buhari, fashola and oshomhole. 3 Likes 1 Share |

@fleet and @4play. Brilliant analysis. I'd like the savings to go into real sector of the economy. Government shouldn't be Salvation Army. What Buhari should be doing is to build strong institutions and I hope we have the human capacity to manage the aftermath. There should also be more effective citizens education. Only the intellectual elite understand the President's position towards plugging wastage, building viable institutions and addressing corruption. The rest of us think that soft living equals good governance. From what's going on things are going to get tougher. There's debate already on fuel subsidy. The President claims to be working on the structure of the cabinet before appointing individuals. Hopefully those individuals will be able to function in revamped institutions when we are already used to feeding bottle governance. I don't expect to see the effect of change until few years from now. 1 Like |

Alllrriiigghhhttt!!!!!!!!! The questions i have are as follows: - why is the price of fuel not going down - Why are the prices of foodstuffs skyrocketting - Why is the gap between the Naira and the dollar increasing Why are we not experiencing any form of relief in our security situation. And a whole lot more?? Can the Op begin to shed more light on these with sound economic analysis please |

ilawanson44: Exchange rate due to previous total mismanagement of successive PDP governments. When I coming years ago it was 230n to the pound and two weeks ago I got 355! That was nothing to do with APC! Do you need pictures for proof? Are there not millions of people where these refineries are. It is a disgrace that Naija has been exporting its crude and then buying it back refined. Don't ask about NOW ask about why this was NOT DONE BEFORE! Basically you reject anything that you don't like irrespective of its truth or not. The Jonathan regime did good on agriculture - credit where credit is due. It failed on corruption and efficiency and did about average economically. After 16 years it was time to move on (welcome to democracy). So far Buhari had done the right things and if he keep it up the results should be visible in about 2 years. More than enough tme for people to make their minds up for the next election. That is how democracy works - all the sulking in a corner, refusing to see what is really happening and crying for the rightful rejection of a failed administration will not change matters. People can either participate and try to assist Nigeria's progress or else like little children who do not want to play unless they can have it all their own way they can run home crying to mummy! The challenge is which will you be? 2 Likes |

dictbennie: But what did you guys expect? He will come in, wave a magic Wand and Nigeria will be better than America? Time and time again, he has shown be is tribalistic. Go through his record. I didn't vote for him but I want him to Excell in one and one thing only, anti - corruption. GEJ allowed the country to slide into this cesspool we are in, I want him to bring us back. If he succeeds in other aspects, I would be surprised. I would not bother myself comparing him to GEJ at the moment. Will give him 4 years then I start and when I do, barcanista will be child's play compared to what I will do. |

On this subject of whether the anti-corruption drive is yielding results, note this news report: Nigerian bond sale misses target, investors seek higher yieldshttp://www.brecorder.com/business-a-finance/managed-funds/248738-nigerian-bond-sale-misses-target-investors-seek-higher-yields.html Creditors are demanding higher interest rates before they lend to Nigeria and those rates are higher than what obtained when GEJ left office. Check out this news article dated 14 May 2015: The 5-year paper was sold at 13.84 percent, lower than 14.44 percent the debt attracted at the last month's auction.http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/05/14/nigeria-treasuries-bonds-idUSL5N0Y51WO20150514 If the Govt's finances were getting better as a result of reduction of corruption and recouping of previous theft, why would this be happening? You could say it's because oil prices are lower but surely the anti-corruption measures should more than make up for it. I will leave you guys to your Sai Buhari and Daura President chants. 1 Like 1 Share |

1miccza: Can certainly address the first issue even as a foreigner. Because of a) the removal of subsidies fuel was always artificially cheap in Naija. You should see it in the rest of the world (scary!). b) Fuel in Naija is exported as crude, refined elsewhere and bought back (hopefully new refineries will eliminate this wasteful and disgraceful practice) Don't know about food. You should see what I have to pay to eat oyinbo food! Naira exchange rate reflects 16 years of poor economic performance. As the economy turns around (this usually takes a few years in ANY country) it will first stablise and then recover. As for security it is not an overnight solution. In Northern Ireland there were never more than 1000 IRA with usually less than 300 active at any one time. The most efficient anti insurgent army in the world, the British, took over 30 years to bring a situation where a political solution could be found. You expect a solution in months lol! Were these answers not obvious to anyone how know how the world works? Or perhaps like so many it is a case of we will only hear and see what we wish to hear and see! |

Demmocrats:. Partially am not supporting the fact that refinery that is working is the hand work of Jonathan. The reason is that, a lot of money has been spent on refinery over the years without any achievement. This does not only peculiar to Jonathan regime,Obasanjo inclusive. Had it been Jonathan is still the president of Nigeria up till this moment, our refinery will still remain where it was because nobody to monitor their activities. Just like power, how much billions have been spent on power in this country, They will just not allow it to work because because of corruption not that they don't know what to do. If Jonathan have put the right machinery in place when he was the president he would have been the best president but allow corruption and negligence, I mean uncare attitude. Now that PMB is the president all this started working because of fear of if I do this wrong I will be held responsible for it. Pray it will continuing like this till when Nigeria my country reach there. |

KoloOyinbo: You see thank God you are outside and not here we have been seeing a whole lot of lies and deceit that it's very hard to believe anything, this has been happening even right from the military era. We were made to believe that these so called benefits listed above if done would alleviate our problems but here we are . I think in my own opinion if these are true then there should have beensome measures to cushion the effect on the masses or something. In my own view, these or some of them happened in the last dispensation, one thing they are good at is using the media to their advantage.. |

4Play: We all agree that Naira should be left to find its true value but it must be systematic. There must be a plan. Gradual withdrawal of fx sales to certain products backed by a govt policy within that sector of interest would be workable. If you want to stop fx sales to rice importers, then grant soft loans to rice farmers, erect storage facilities that could be leased, govt can get involved in the distribution chain....... Thats a plan. But absolute withdrawal of fx sales without any support to the local alternatives is inhumane. Especially when local alternatives are no where near national consumption. You cannot expect a minimum wage earner of 18k to feed on 1200 naira per kilo of chicken... or do you? |
