nzeobi:That is how it should be since there is no minister yet. Even at that CBN and NNPC are suposed to be working harmoniously together unlike during gej era where the figures released by CBN conflicts that of NNPC just because the latter is playing with figures. To the extent that petroleum minister Diezani madueke went to court that she should not be probed or invited by NASS or house of rep. Where is she today? Only if politicians know that Power is transient the better for nigeria. 1 Like |

Mr. Emefiele disclosed that the CBN and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, have been holding talks towards significantly reducing fuel importation which takes a lot of foreign exchange. This is our largest single drain on 'Forex'! “Hopefully, as they ramp up production, they would be able to get to about 19 to 20 million litres that they can produce to meet our daily consumption level of about 30 million litres. Our interest as CBN is that by this act alone we are going to record a drastic reduction in the importation of petroleum products which will ultimately help our reserve position and help us in our mandate of strengthening the exchange rate”, he said So no longer 40 million litres/day . . . I've always maintained we DO NOT consume up to 40 million litres/day we simply do not! And if power could be a more stable -- take out the individual generator consumption, it would sure be in the 20-25 million litres range #myopinion Tight monetary policy, retains 13% MPR Really! Shame on CBN, the Finance ministry and the FG. On inflation, Mr. Emefiele expressed concern about “the gradual but steady increase in headline inflation up to June 2015, and noted that this reflected a rise in both the core and food components of inflation.” It's higher on the streets I'm sorry. Even at 8-10%, it's pathetic impoverishment! Addressing the issue of the value of the Naira at the foreign exchange market, the CBN boss also said that at $1- N 197, the nation’s currency was well-priced, foreclosing any new plan to devalue it. Balderdash. 10% scorecard=fail. You've created a juicy avenue for currency racketeering. 1 Like |

anonimi: scammed by who? i dont give a crap about politicians. I support Buhari cos he has never been in PDP. Beside i was an adult when pdp came to power and i read all news papers daily from bus stop. I voted in 1999 election and i know what im talking about. Warri refinery was working during Abacha's regime. PDP led by OBJ destroyed it to create contract/job opportunity for pdp members. 1 Like |

airmark: He initiated it just like the in power with massive increase in output which are all Jonathan's work But became fruitful in buhari's time still the praise goes to Jonathan even my sai buhari said that the increase in electricity production was all the good work of Jonathan. Bro Jonathan deserve the praise and I totally agree on my first comment. The only thing I accepted in what you said was the part that Jonathan has so many signs that his corrupt by allowing so many corrupt deals to go on. www. |

1miccza: Well I spend a LOT of time in Naija (Lagos, Abuja, Bonny, Warri, Port Harcourt and recently Ibadan) and I have been doing so for 15 years. If you understand how countries and economies work you will ALREADY have seem some improvements (quicker than anyone would reasonably expect). Only a total naïve fool would expect very much in the first year of any administration in any country. The effects of 16 years or incompetence will still be felt for some time. Internationally the business confidence in Nigeria is rising due to the measures taken against corruption and this in itself will stimulate the economy. Don't worry too much about the exchange rate of the Naira. When exchange rates weaken (more naira to the dollar/pound) it makes you cheaper and stimulates outside organisations to spend money IN Naija. When it strengthens then you can but foreign good easier. Each has advantages and disadvantages. You have to balance them. The current government seems to be doing better at the moment and we hope it will keep doing so. There is no doubt in the eyes of the world and educated Nigerian that the last few administrations were totally useless and ensured that Naija developed MUCH more slowly than it should. There will of course always be individual instances of something being better or worse but we must take the overall picture. And of course if APC fail to deliver the expectations after 4 years then you have a chance to replace them with PDPD again (God help RIVERS where the desperation of those corrupt officials was evident to the world) or very possibly with a new alliance or party. In the international community when we think of PDP we sadly think of Orobebe's infantile outburst on international TV (which Jega handled magnificently). PDP MUST shake that image (and fools like Orobebe) if they are to have any chance of being a credible opposition and positioning themselves for any future viable challenge. The damage that man did PDP was incalculable! Also (like these forums) the elections must be run on POLICY rather than the stupid mudslinging. Even here in this thread and on Nairaland in general there is little argument over rational policy. The debates are simply stating (without support) this is working or this is not. APD/PDP are good/bad useless. Each group simply states their position unsupported, with very few engaging in objective and rational debate. You have been independent for over 60 years now but democracy has not quite matured yet! |
