No Department kicks students out than MBBS because dey hav enough.......... so the tension is always on d studnts to be on top of there games........ unlike BDS students dey are pampered because of thier less numbers ........ d dept cannot afford to loose too many students.... |

Zico5:Do other universities like uniben allow such program.. pls reply |
Re: Medicine or Dentistry?: Pls Advise by Zico5(m): 10:13am On Sep 07, 2015 |
OneTruePrince:Major federal universities in Nigeria re doing the program. Uniben inclusive, u can confirm from the college of health science. But will u like to change, Dentistry is money spinning and more lucrative and career wise than medicine. Very few people know this. Put in ur best and be the best, I'm sure u won't regret being a dentist 1 Like |

Actually your question reflects pressure from peeps and what your family take on the matter to an extent. Truth is if you have the intellect to undertake either of the courses, BRO GO FOR THE ONE YOU ENJOY MOST!!! BOTH OF THEM REALLY PAY....DENTIST Build mansions and ride expensive monster cars so do doctors but some others who are into same profession don't....it boils down to doing what you love and doing it better than others....GOOD LUCK!!!!!!! 2 Likes |

Zico5: This is misleading information..... Dentistry is more money spinning than medicine..... now I knw yu just want to talk..... tell me where did you put specialties like..Paediatrics, Plastic and reconstructive surgery, orthopaedics, neuro surgery, anesthesia., oncology.... compared to only oral and maxilofacial surgery in dentistry... d truth be told....dere are bettr chances of making money frm medicine.. dan dentistry...... due to d diverse areas in which yu can specialise 1 Like |

tipzyayd:how many people have brain problem, how many people need operation in orthopaedics, how many people need plastic surger? come to oau dental hospital and see diff type of people with swollen tongue, mouth etc for surgery. Whether you like it or not, dentistry is still the most patronised surgery. If you do neurosurgery, dont be surprised to see just only about 5 patients in two years. Compare to dentistry. 4 Likes |

tipzyayd:Not few differences. Huge difference.... You have no idea how very tasking dental courses are. Imagine a dental student offering dental courses plus all medical courses(excluding Obstetrics and gynaecology)... and you say medicine is common... I laugh in latin. Med students dey enjoy compared to dental students. You can ask both 500 & 600level students from both departments...hah 1 Like |

Let’s face it. Many people fear you. Seventy five (75%) percent of adults experience some degree of dental fear, from mild to severe. Five to ten percent have dental phobia who avoid dental care at all costs. What is it with dentists? When people were asked to think about the last time they searched for health and medical information, as well as doctors or other health professionals… https://wsiaxon.com/dental-marketing-ideas-dentists/ |

mstarmarv: Why would i want to cross over to BDS from MBBS? Who does that? there are dozens of specialties available for an MBBS grad and 3yrs is enough to take you half the ride. @Op,when you're ready to get to work, you won't be asking unnecessary questions. |

DBestDoc: People do it! In USA, it is more rampant, especially those that want to specialise in Oral and maxillofacial surgery! |

homesteady: The USA that has one of the most developed plastic surgery practice in the world. What is the Job of a plastic and recontructive surgeon? Even in plastics, they have subspecialties. You can cross from specialties to specialties but Hardly from MBBS to BDS |

HighIQ:this is quite funny cos as a final year medical student, I just completed my surgery postings, neurosurgery is extremely busy or dont u have RTA patients in your center with epidural and subdural hematoma or children with hydrocephalus or encephalocele . Orthopedics is a busy surgical practice especially trauma patients with fractures , and not forgetting this era of hip and knee transplants |
Re: Medicine or Dentistry?: Pls Advise by homesteady(m): 3:27pm On Jul 12, 2017 |
DBestDoc: Plastic surgery and Oral and Maxillofacial surgery are two different fields! To be the latter, you need a BDS! Take a good look at the names, and you would see the difference between the two! 2 Likes |
