4get dis trash........thy derve d amnesty, let's begin 2get tinz right in dis coountry
brainpower:
I doubt if he has any plans to continue the amnesty programme. I think he should just try and help those that are already in various courses to finish so that they can get jobs but as for paying them, it should end in December. I know people that have never carried a pistol and yet are being paid. But Buhari should be very careful to underestimate anybody from Niger Delta. All it takes is only one bomb and the chaos starts. He shouldn't make them panic. In as much as BH is acclaimed to be wicked, boys in the creek are not smiling. All they are looking for is just a reason or a godfather to give the order. I don't think any sane person that lived in PH and Delta about 10years ago will underestimate them. And if you insist on doing so, ask the mutli-national companies.

Excerpts from his interview in The Punch

Turning south to the Niger Delta, the amnesty for former combatants which has helped to keep the peace in the Niger Delta is due to end in December this year. What measures do you propose to replace it?

The amnesty still plays an important part in ending the insurgency in the Niger Delta and I am committed to continuing it as long as it is necessary to do so. However, it is not a long-term answer to the problems there.

Just as in the North, the Niger Delta requires long-term investment in both economic and social infrastructure – from roads and railways, to schools, hospitals and housing. That is what people want, a fair share of the resources that their region is producing.

If the slow-poke had succeeded in getting military equipment and arms from US, would he have sang the same song? NO! Because he would have used those Arms against the people of the Niger Delta. But since he was disgraced, he is singing the peace song. Rubbish man

LWTMB oooo! grin cheesy

These are same people that cried dictatorship and unconstitutional act when the military sealed Ijaw House as reported in the other thread.

PMB fears no militants. He doesn't appear it and the actions of NA so far have shown that. Even the spokesman of IYC was practically lamenting when commenting on the military seige.

@ the topic, PMB has said it even in his inaugural speech that he will invest more in the amnesty but not in the way GEJ did.
Don't mind the wailing wailers, always reasoning with their anus instead of brains. Perhaps, they have forgotten that we are in a Democrat setting, Dictatorship is not feasible.

The idi.ot thinks the situation today was like the 80s when they ruled with intimidation.

Today, every Nigerian is a world-press unto himself/herself to the extent that with an inexpensive phone he will inform the whole world in realtime of what's happening in Nigeria.

Technology and the new world order have made it impossible for old tyrants like Buhari to control the flow of information outside Nigeria. Radio Biafra is just one example.

The world is now listening directly to Nigerians that it has become impossible to roll back the time to the old born to rule brutality.

Restructure Nigeria or the amalgamation will continure to be a scary and shaky one for the inhabitants and foreigners alike.

Good one

Do you live in Akwa Ibom State? Do you relish the desire to own your own business with little start up capital and promising returns in investment? Do you hope to look into the mirror each morning and know you are talking to the boss? Are you enterprising?/Would you love to be? Do you have an aptitude for thinking out of the box? A lot of wailing wailers are very angry at this development.... They wanted a confrontation, they wanted a major crisis in the creeks, they wanted the country to be grounded to a halt, the wished and prayed in their foolishness for the country to be ungovernable for Buhari... But this decision by Buhari has brought them much sorrow.

Shame on you all!... Whether you wailers like it or not, no matter the evil you ediots wish for this country all in a senseless bid to say "I told you," Nigeria must move forward, Nigeria must be great again and the process would be kick-started by this very Pa Buhari whom you all love to hate.

o yeah! Are you a sorceress? I am based in porthacourt, Nigeria. I work in the oil and gas sector myself. Any unrest or militancy would directly or indirectly affect my work. So there's no way I wouldn't be pleased with this news. So eat your words, Mrs wise.
Re: Buhari To Continue Amnesty Programme For Niger Delta by MahatmaGhandi: 4:23pm On Jul 26, 2015
Amnesty is not what the Niger delta needs, like he said it is a short term solution, truth is I don't think it is a solution at all, Based on my stance on some other threads some will be feeling by now that I detest the man but truth is I don't . The challenge the president has in the Niger delta is a problem of perception and nothing else, there is no ill will towards him what so ever, instead Niger deltans are getting vibes from the presidency that are not too nice, and it puts them in the defensive. The solution to the problem is simple, Mr. President the people in that region do not trust your intentions toward them, all you have to do is to demonstrate your goodwill for them and all of Nigeria. Visit these Creek communities and see their challenges first hand, assure them of your love and concern, assign one of your trusted lieutenants to start executing your goodwill for them while you focus on other national matters. Once in while peep at the progress and continue with plans for the country. Your excellency if you can do this all doubts of your good intent will be eroded, the militants that the people seem to see as freedom fighters will disappear and if any of them is left Niger deltans will help you take care of them for good. What this people need is development, if they were getting the needed attention in terms of development no section of the country will call for resource Control, the present cry for resource control is as a result of lack of confidence in the government and rightfully so because even you sir is aware that this people have not been treated fairly. Tackle the problem of development in this area or been seen as tackling it and militancy in this area will be seen as purely criminal but as long as these people continue to have reasons to be restive, the problem of the Niger delta will be a recurring decimal.
