firsttymum:I also need to add that the concept of PM is being abused. Even though i try to reply all PMs it can be bothersome when people keep asking same questions that have been treated here. Some new members also bypass this thread and will want PMs only as if its a day job. Personally,For security reasons and for the growth of the thread i have stopped replying PMs of strange IDs who have never posted anything here. All sorts of spam happen these days by opening the wrong mail 6 Likes |

lahips:please go open an account with fidelity bank. It's better than diamond on the PTA stuff. I have account with both fidelity and diamond bank. Before I travelled, I first went to fidelity in abuja for pta, my passport and ticket was confirmed and I was given at 199.54/usd I still wanted more so I went to diamond bank, i was told they couldn't give me since I had already gotten from fidelity until another quarter Had to use a work colleague that was also travelling but didn't need the pta and had a diamond account. On a Friday, we went to all the diamond bank branches in abuja and we were told in all, they had run out of usd. Asked us to check back the coming week. The next Monday, went to their regional office by chealsea hotel central area after much delay, they finally told us they just had stock. We were eventually given at 204/ usd higher than the cbn stipulated rate. Had no choice than to accept it. For those looking for pta, go to your bank's regional offices in your state. If other branches don't have, the regional offices will have. In abuja, fidelity bank's regional office is beside ceddi mall central area and diamond bank is by chealsea hotel central area. Hope this helps. 3 Likes |

My story continues. Wore my compressor sock from doha to houston and it help a lot, no swelling at all anyway with a very active 3 year old that visit the loo every now and then an I had lots of exercise. As the journey drew to any end I felt more tired so I told my husband am asking for a wheel chair once we get to houston. Note I did not use any thru out my journey or even included it in my ticket reservation so as we landed I told one of the attendant that I need a wheel chair. One was arranged for me and off we go. Abeg wheel chair good o. The airport was crowded. Na special treatment for wheelchair o. Wheeled to the shortest line with my husband and daughter following. When it our turn at the CBP this ensures Officer : hello Hubby: hello Officer: can I have your passports Hubby: gave her with the form filled on the plane. Officer: how is your daughter name pronounced Hubby: it is this but you can call her this for short. Officer : oh ok, tired out calling her name. What are you here for? Hubby : vacation and childbirth Officer: have you been in the us before Hubby: no our first time. Officer: how much do you have with you? Hubby: $4K and the rest is in our card. Officer : what do you do? Hubby: told her. Officer: and you? Me: told her. Officer: so why do you want to have you baby here? Me: better health care Hubby: America has the best health care in the world( that one na statistics) Officer : oh yeah Do you come with any food items. Me: yes, nigerian foods, like egusi, ogbono etc. Officer: any plant, seeds, palm oil Me: no, no( any food she mention, I just dey shake my head say no). Officer: do have a nice stay. She return our passport with 6 month stamp i.e to Jan. Passport go expire in dec. No secondary inspection, the wheelchair lady also helped with our luggage and na so she push me thru to exit o. Now resting. And planning on fixing my appointment today. 11 Likes |

I am due early Nov, intend going thru JFK. I am caught between renewing my visa cos it expires Nov 20th. So i really havent made up my mind on whether to renew or just use the existing visa. Could u please advise? |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by shrekandfiona: 2:33pm On Jul 27, 2015 |
Omotweezy:don't rely on calls to branch managers, go to the bank's regional office in your state. Go with your passport and flight ticket. They give PTA to genuine travellers. At least I know of fidelity and diamond bank Abuja. For the western union and money gram, it is not a recent practice. It's ongoing for about 2 years now. You get paid in naira not dollars 2 Likes |

Toks07:please try not to give unconfirmed info. You can withdraw dollars from your dorm account if you have a usd dorm account. I have dorm accounts with gtb and diamond and I withdraw the currency domiciled there at any point in time 1 Like |

Detty16:As long as you get to the US before your visa expires, it's okay as the duration of your stay is determined by the border officers at POE. However, I wouldn't take such risk if it were me especially if the initial visa given wasn't for medical purpose (b2). I would rather renew and indicate my childbirth purpose in the renewal if it wasn't stated before. The choice is solely yours to make though. |

Many thanks Firstymum. I totally agree with what you said and thats what i may opt for. I have a B1/B2, which i though covers vac/medical, hence my reason for wanting to just go... I will keep you posted as it goes. I appreciate. |

Detty16: If it were me, I'll renew my visa before I go.. If you were going in Nov and your visa was to expire say Feb then I'll say go for it. Ultimately, it's up to you. |
