too sad...... factory work is highly hazardous.

There is no proper safety culture in a lot of Nigerian factories. Not fair to the workers, not fair at all.

this is what you get when safety devices are bypassed, there is usually a pressure switch that shut it down when it gets to the unsafe pressure setpoint.

is it Nigeria's fault that most factories set up..don't go throw routine check, safety precautions and all?? must the government do everything for us?? i believe golden penny is a private factory right?? the people in charge there, should be held responsible for what failed.. not Nigeria

While I condole with the family of the dead man. I strongly kick against the unsafe acts and industrial practices in Nigeria. When the body to check all such things go about from one company to the other collecting money and gift items. In my first place of work a moulding machine kills a boy and to top it all another chiller pieced the fingers of the technician. We work without safety boots,helment or gloves......we were told that safety agency where coming for inspection,only for me to see them sitted in the canteen chatting with the managers. The never entered the production sites.
I resigned because of lack of safety precautions.
There is even no insurance cover neither is there any law that is active to purnish any company that engages in things like this.
What we have here is slavery.........all thanks to lack of job.
To be sincere,our problem in nigeria is too much to only be corruption. The system is bastardized by us .

Now we are seeing Nigeria in its entity. See our structure and ethics is below zero level.I wont exonerate anyone caught in corrupt act.But what i will not fail to do is remind us that corruption is not just what brought us to this level.Even indigenous companies dont value job ethics and morals.

I am not arguing whose fault it is neither am I arguing whose duty it is to put safeties in place, I am merely stating a fact. I know because I've been there

I am a staff of the said company though not in that section I believed the company have a very good safety culture is just unfortunate that this happen .we should just note that no matter how we prevent accident .it must still happen .I sympathize with the family and pray to God almighty to be with the family.

That is the issue bro. A boiler is a huge bomb. Safety devices are supposed to be up and functioning but they dont due to negligence.
It is even good that this has been published. Many industrial accidents never get published.

Sango- ota in Ogun state is the headquarter of all this kind of accident,I pity d life of factory workers sincerely they are suffering! Mayb an hash-tag in protest for them on twitter will mk their voice heard by concern authority.

Government should actually be the first to be held responsible because they are the regulatory agency, they are the monitoring and the sanctioning agency. Government monitoring team only goes around collecting bribes.

your right, am not arguing that with you.., but must government do these before we citizens do so.?? if we are to keep relying on government for everything, we wont go far. Sometimes we should think of what to give back to our Nation, and not what the Nation should give us.
