I've not been able to make purchases for a while now. PayPal says it's my bank. My bank says PayPal has blocked some cards from being used from this country (IIRC). How true is the latter?

You can't.
You need to opt in for a foreign PayPal account in your name to be able to do that.

Diamond's. It's just this one card that's linked.

It might be on the site you were trying to make the payment as some websites don't accept any other country PayPal account aside that of USA.

Can you please drop the error message you do get for proper advice.

Please how do I get the verification code that Paypal sent to me? They deducted the charges for the verification from my account but I can't seem to find the code.

This type of error do come up when the balance you have on the card's account is not up to the amount you want to to pay.

Just top up your bank account(let the usage/accessible amount in your bank account to be at least N5,000 or you can make it N6,000 for this transaction) and then try sending the payment again.

Also,make sure you've completed the linking and confirming processes of the card to your PayPal.

I used access bank, I did not get the sms alert but am email from PayPal directing me to get the code from my card issuer (visa)
I have sms alert enabled on my account and do get alerts

I see and it must have been their system issue if it was that you surely completed the linking process.

If you are sure you did,get bank your account statement for that period or just make it like 30 days and you will surely get the PayPal related transaction from which you will get the code.

Bro, trust, I'm no newbie in paying for stuff online. I had more than enough to cover my purchase. Also, I have used the same card to make payments before now (some months ago). Na just crase dey worry all of them jare!

If that is the case,try making use of another card from another bank and remove the older one.

I tried linking my GTBank mastercard and paypal said I should contact my bank. When I called GTBank customer care, I was told that I require a current account and not a savings account. Now I have gotten a 1st Bank mastercard and was told I need a secure code before I can link my card to paypal. Just confused and want to forget about paypal and their wahala.

Baba u dont need current to link ur card to paypal. Either saving or current can do that.

Ok but note that PayPal only allow one personal and one premier/business account per individual.

Savings or Current account can do even without getting secure code.
What first bank was trying to tell you is to opt for their Internet banking and token device so that you can open it via their Internet banking PayPal wallet.

Just add any of the bank's card and it will go through provided you have money in them.
You can as well opt in for UBA prepaid card such as Africard or Smartmoney to be linked to your PayPal.It I'd not compulsory you have account with UBA before you can get any of their prepaid cards.

Paypal works well with first bank master card maybe because first bank and paypal are partners
