bigfrancis21: Told them in order to. Meet up with the resumption date for classes.... I referred to the i-20 as well. In their exact words: "Dear U.S. Visa Applicant, Thank you for contacting the U.S. Embassy/Consulate. Your request for permission to schedule an emergency appointment has been reviewed. We regret to inform you that your request has been denied. Please visit our website at www.ustraveldocs.com for FAQs regarding requirements for emergency appointments. Please find the details for denial: Thank you, The U.S. Embassy/Consulate" |

Morning my good people, my school resumes on 24th August whereas my interview would be on the 19th August ( closest date as at when I was ready... I wanna make few Inquiries as per way forward..... 1. Is it possible that per chance I could still find a date earlier than 19th on their site...note that they refused my emergency request. ****edited*** I reapplied for another emergency, this time, they approved it but the only available date is/was 18th August, 2015 ( just a day difference from the original) 2. God is with me, so I'm confident that My visa would be approved; given God's assurance that my visa would be approved, is it possible that I book my flight, say two weeks b4 my interview in order to cut save some naira...how many days grace after the booking date is allowed b4 payment is made. BTw, I'm going to Tennessee, where would be my POE. 3. Heard drivers' license should be best done in Nigeria...my supervisor inquired if I have one cos I would be needing it to drive around during our research project, so I'd like to know the best way I can get one now Urgent response please |

Hi all, my brother who graduated in 2004 wants to apply for masters in US. Is age and year of graduation a red flag? He has been working since his nysc. |

oknee: Hello, boss! Year of graduation won't be an issue if he can clearly explain to the consular what he has been doing for the last 11years and what prompted his interest in a Postgraduate studies now. 1 Like |

Choose the 18th and get a letter from your school that you will resume late by a week.. Pray they approve it so that you can go with it to the embassy.you can book ahead for your flight.. No harm in booking since you are hopeful that you will be approved. You can get international driver license from any FRSC office... Rate maybe 7k-10k.Book ahead which is better than booking few days to your departure.. My 1cent opinion.. Best of luck bro. Sorbital: |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 7 by Nobody: 8:26am On Jul 29, 2015 |
DeeTus: lemme get you clearer... do you mean I should write to the school to send me another I-20 bearing an extended date or they should send me letter that states that my resumption date has been extended for like say 1week? should the request be granted would there still be need to write to the embassy 'guys' again as you advised. |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 7 by Nobody: 8:29am On Jul 29, 2015 |
Sorbital:Get a letter from your school and not I-20. When exactly is your date of resumption? |

igbonerd: Hello bro Are you actually paying tuition for a PhD degree and not fully funded by the school? That's very rare. Most PhD and post doc researchers strongly advise against taking up non funded PhDs. Did they make any promises regarding the coming years or just a flat out " we don't fund"? . The issue isn't transferring to a cheaper school(still a financial burden) in my opinion, it's the fact that >95% of PhD students in the US are fully funded with stipends. Your school should at least explain why a PhD student isn't funded so you can start from there. Lack of. Funds? Second year funding kickoff? You know. The whole idea of PhD is that you're actually working for the school to improve their research prowess. You're a researcher more than a student which is why it's expedient that the school pays you to do research that uplifts the name and pedigree of the school. Perhaps you should draft a mail to your grad coordinator regarding this. Hope this helps. 1 Like |

Sorbital:You still have time. Please take the August 18th and get a letter of extention from your school. At least 7 to 10 days extended arrival is okay. In addition, you do not need to pay when booking a flight. Remember you're using it for your interview. You can get a flight within 72 hours after your visa might have been approved. Good luck! |

Booking 18th and flying 22nd,you can't fly with emirate again which happens to be the cheapest airline for now.. Price will be over $1000 then..now you can still get less than $1000...The risk of booking ahead enables you to save more on flight at the long run. Sorbital: |
