Who else felt EY could have done a better job with the entire AC arrangement?
They should try and improve on the following areas
1. 30 people per session was way too much
2. The impulsive changes in allotted time for the different sections were somewhat unprofessional. It reeked of poor planning. One prepares for professional slide presentations according to the duration. And that can't be equated to 'working under pressure' as the recruitment team explained. Working under pressure had to do with constraints of time, resources and personnel relative to the anticipated result. That presentation was to be the result
3. How was teamwork (a core skill) being assessed for about 5-6 teams by just 4 persons? More staff could have been delegated to cover the group sessions
The interview sessions were rushed through as well.

I believe recruitment is the most important operation for the success of any company regardless of its size. A company is as good as the quality of its staff (I own businesses too).

denigma2 you are very right and constructive in your view. I was surprised no one monitored our in group discussions, just the presentation and also how the first set of people to present got enough time more than others at the tail end who were rushed and didn't really get the focus of the panel. I just hope the video recording was done to enable a review of our presentations etc. EY has a lot to improve in their recruitment, but am sure they will as they do observe our comments here.

The powerpoint presentation didn't need much stories.
You just need to sell yourself and create impact as soon as you can this is business world,no time.
A lot of peeps were defining personal brand, you think they don't know that? Another was talking abt his age like if you weren't within the specified age bracket you'll get to AC stage in the first place that shii was boring!
Just say things that would get them interested in your Gist. As a fellow applicant a lot of peeps bored me out. You don't need a video clip as long as a seasonal movie to advertise a product.

true and very true. Selling yourself within a short time was the most important thing there, IMO, the timing even goes a long way in testing how well we can adjust to tasks in a changing environment and under pressure. In all the assessment was good, although there's room for improvement as always and I'm sure they know that. Can't speak for everyone tho, cos I don't know how the rest went, perhaps it's cos I was in the first batch.
Re: Ernst & Young Graduate Trainee Recruitment 2015 by marqueetim(m): 9:33pm On Jul 29, 2015
kokaneprodigy I agree with you on the need to sell yourself etc and the redundancy of defining things like personal brand , age etc. but the number was too much. Kpmg does around 12 but they are divided into two panels of six. PwC is even smaller 8 for a day with 2 panels still. It ensures better evaluation and the further benefits it brings. Sorry to derail with KPMG and PwC. We are team EY.. cool

In my opinion, I think the assessment center was fair enough. A session lasted about 5 hours and seriously those 5 hours were tiring and uneasy. Now imagine they- the recruitment team - that had to conduct and monitor 4 different sessions. In all fairness, I think they did a good job.

Lols at defining and explaining "personal brand". I thought I was the only one that noticed that. I was amazed when a lot of folks had it on their slides. At a point in time I felt scared and a bit odd.

The AC was ok. But some improvements are needed. The number of applicants per AC should be reduced. Having more than 30 folks for 5 hours assessment aren't fair on the part of the assessors and the applicants. The assessors will definitely get tired at the tail end.

may God bless our hustles.

Pls what were the current affairs questtions?
Chocolatees:
In my opinion, it may take the KPMG format. Numerical,Verbal(synonyms,Antonyms),Critical Reasoning- For example, the KPMG one was trying to get the journey of a person going through a town. Believe me, I don't know how to type in a way you understand this part for those that haven't written KPMG and lastly, current affairs. Those were the 5 sections and dragnet conducted the test. So common sense tells me obviously, I should look at this format. I strongly doubt the test will be like the standard dragnet (20 verbal and numerical each, 16 abstract within 1 hour with No calculator) we are all familiar with. We were told that we would use the PC calculator for this test. Kindly PM me if you have useful KPMG materials. Success to all.
