DeeTus: There is no definite timeline on getting through the hiring process for the MAVNI program. As I mentioned, it all depends on recruiting cycles. If they need more people they will hire faster - if they don't there will be delays. After you officially enlist in the military the process takes around 10 more weeks until you become a citizen. Some other things to keep in mind - you are most likely on a 4-year term of enlistment. As others have mentioned, you may get deployed to a warzone as part of that obligation. I wouldn't let that discourage anyone. I went to war twice and came back fine, and I was a combat soldier on the front line as well. The benefits are that you will get expedited citizenship, training, and have steady employment for the duration of your enlistment. You may even enjoy it and decide to stay for a full career. The first step is to talk to a recruiter - they will have the most up to date information about how quickly recruitment cycles are moving. 12 Likes 3 Shares |

Sorbital, why not just go ahead and request for an extension on ur date of resumption from school. It'll still be a win-win situation for you even if u eventually get an earlier date. |

zeezahbee:Zeezahbaby, you see sometimes you sound crazy towards me. I know you like me. But I will be bad on you. Look, I once received an email from a member here, but wouldn't want to disclose his moniker. That email is very, very, very difficult to hack. First, it detects strange IPs, blah blah blah. 1 Like |

LagosNIV: Thank you for your comment. I just thought that mentioning a travel history with no proof is a probable cause for suspicion given the tendency of some folks to claim travel history to boost their chances of obtaining an F1 visa. I am well aware that this is a common phenomenon at the US embassy and some applicants may have been denied for this or for lack of evidence for some claim they may have made. There may be porosity between the Nigerian borders with other countries such that movement across borders is sometimes undocumented as against the usual whereby any travel made is documented, at least by a stamp on the passport. The last time I checked, Nigeria and Benin Republic are ECOWAS countries and by virtue of that there is free movement across both countries but such international travel would need to be, at least, documented by an entry/exit stamp on the traveler's international passport, say for example, a traveller to Benin Republic from Nigeria would have his passport stamped the usual entry/exit stamps on their passport, right? This, at least, documents or proves his travel to Benin Republic. No bad advice whatsoever was being given. It is always better to play on the safe side. What I told him is what I myself would probably do anyway. There have been cases where applicants have mentioned getting admitted into, say, 3 schools and the visa officers prodded further for evidence such as admission letter from all schools because they did not take the applicant's word for it. Now, I do know that everybody's case is different and cases are individual and treated as such. But all visa officers are not the same, while some officers may take your word for it some do not. As an applicant, we always want to play on the safe side because we don't know the type of visa officer that gets to interview us. 2 Likes |

Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 7 by bigfrancis21: 6:14pm On Jul 30, 2015 |
ferdimako: @bold...Good to know. That's exactly what I am talking about. If they do stamp at the borders, and prior applicants to the embassy who have visited Benin republic have stamps on their passports and you don't have one, that makes you stand out. That is what I was referring to originally. And you do know that entry into a country without a valid passport is illegal entry? If the visa officer says that she or they would accept your word for it when you said you travelled to Benin Republic but you have no stamp on your passport for it, and you are able to explain the circumstances of your travel, that's fine. I mean, who am I to say otherwise. Kee ndi bu ndi ayo? |
