First, I think it's an insult to Nigerians to describe President Muhammadu Buhari's administration thus far as an "indisputable success". I understand your dire need to make Buhari and APC look good so as to justify your political stance, but resorting to undeserved platitudes to hoodwink gullible Nigerians into thinking that Buhari is the best thing since sliced bread is, to say the least, deceitful. Now, let's address the substance of your post. 1. Increase in Our Foreign Reserves: Anyone with half a brain knows that the movement in foreign reserves is a function of supply of and demand for currency of the host nation (in this case the naira) versus other foreign currencies. Now what affects the level of foreign reserves is the level of inflow (which comes from sales of crude oil as well as other export commodities) and the outflow (which involves the use of dollars by the CBN to purchase foreign currency, which is then used by importers to pay for goods and services imported into the country). It is important to note that the foreign reserves figure has been falling for so long because the CBN was making less inflow (i.e. sale of oil) versus the outflow (i.e. importation of goods and services including refined petroleum products). So what CBN simply did was to come up with a policy to remove about 41 items from the list of products that it was going to finance importation for (see this link for further details http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/understanding-cbn-s-forex-market-restrictions/213868/ ). What the CBN did in effect was to save foreign currency it typically used to finance imports, thereby reducing the strain on the foreign reserves. It is extremely deceitful of you, Mr. Emefiele or anyone else to tell Nigerians that "leakages were plugged". Meanwhile I hardly need to tell you that the underlying problem of the falling Naira as well as the widening spread between interbank and parallel market rates (Google this up) remains unaddressed. 2. Bail-out Package to States: It was an extremely short-sighted decision by the Buhari administration to bail out states (which got into trouble as a result of their own recklessness, anyway) without any conditions whatsoever. The "bailout" was simply an endorsement of financial recklessness and mismanagement. In any case, the banks which the states are indebted to have seized the money so I doubt the 'bailout" will achieve its intended objectives. Can hardly be called "indisputable success" can it? http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/daily/index.php/top-stories/61264-why-banks-seized-bailout-funds-yari 3. Modest Success Against the BH Terrorists: It beats me how you would on the one hand call something a "modest success" and on the other call this administration an "indisputable success". Does this make sense to you? What kind of "success" has been recorded when the rate of loss of life has been greater since Buhari came in than under his predecessor? Do you think the over 800 lives wasted by Boko Haram since May 29 are mere "statistical figures"? In addition, this isn't the first time that Boko Haram has resorted to suicide bombings. It befuddles me how BH suicide bombings under Jonathan were a "sign of a failed presidency" but is now "sign of desperation and frustration from a group facing impending defeat". You'll have to explain that to me. Also, Buhari DID promise to end BH within two months, as reported by barcanista. That he later retracted himself does not invalidate the promise that he made. 4. Serious Undergoing Efforts to Recover Our Stolen Money: Again it is ridiculous to state that "serious efforts" equals "indisputable success". Can you, Mr. PassingShot, tell us exactly how much has been recovered, and from whom? Also, when are we going to begin to see serious prosecution of the "thieves" from the last administration? With all the figures Adams Oshiomhole has been peddling around, shouldn't Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala have been arrested or at least queried by now? When funds have actually been recovered and the thieves sent to prison, please be sure to let me know. 5. Refineries now Working: Nothing to say here, Buhari himself has said he cannot take credit for the functioning refineries. https://www.nairaland.com/2460862/cannot-take-credit-revival-refineries That leaves us with the past administration, whether you admit it or not. 6. Improved Electricity: We've been down this road before. We can't talk about "improved electricity" until the "improvement" is sustained all the way to the dry season. Besides, you'll really have to explain to us how Buhari "improved" electricity without a Minister of Power. 7. Nigeria Image Boosted: Another insult. How has Nigeria's image been "boosted" specifically? Were you on hibernation when the Obama administration flayed Buhari's "lack of preparedness" in the recent US trip? Or is your assessment based on Buhari's recent trip to Cameroon? You really have to justify Buhari's "indisputable success" when even the most basic of Buhari's electoral promises are yet to be fulfilled. Buhari has not declared his assets publicly, he has not stopped Boko Haram within two months, he is yet to start feeding primary school children, he hasn't started paying unemployed youth and the elderly N5,000/month, he has not started paying corp members one year allawee, he has not taken any corruption case to court not to mention securing a conviction, he is yet to recover a kobo of stolen money, yet you call him an "indisputable success? Joke's on you, Mr. PassingShot. Anyone who has the ear of the president should please inform him that he is yet to start fulfilling his electoral promises. He should get to work because no excuses for non-performance will be tolerated. After all, we (quite rightly) voted out Jonathan for non-performance. Abeg let me stop here. I'm tired of typing. 36 Likes 8 Shares |

Over 1,000 souls dead and someone is claiming "Modest Success" on BH, because of the corpses of a few BH cronies we saw carefully lined up for the camera? For now, the words "success" and "BH" should not be found in the same sentence as far as this administration is concerned. Gosh?!!!!! 11 Likes |

MizMyColi:Did you read the reason for the increase as stated by Emefiele? 2. What bailout? The same one four governors or so have openly come out to say they haven't received? When did Saint Buhari become a liar? Pray tell. They're already receiving it. You must know that there are processes to be followed. 3. There is nothing these soldiers have done that wasn't done in the GEJ administration. If you read to understand me, I acknowledged increase in suicide attacks but they're surely different from when BH was attacking army barracks and police stations carting away their weapons. 4. What exactly is the status on the ready-to- collect Haliburton bribe money? What is it with this government and "I will" "I will"? Or is the recovery of looted funds selective? Pray tell also.If you're tired of "I will" of a two months old government, I can't help you buddy. 5. Refineries work because of a certain ex president. PMB asserted that much, so?Saying what you say doesn't make it so. The question is, are my posers correct or not? Did NNPC say all that or not? 6. Electrity has improved because a certain ex president laid the ground work. The capacity TCN has now isn't magical, or is it?Face the fact sis! The capacity has always been what it is now but corruption didn't make gas to power to be available. 7. What image got boosted? Correct if I'm wrong please, but last I checked, Nigerians were transported into this country with trucks used for carrying cows and oranges, and to think mr President visited just a day ago?Illegal immigrants get transported by various means. This your line of thought is baffling really. Majority of Nigerians are happy with PMB so far. Only bigots are not. Cheers. 21 Likes 7 Shares |

PassingShot: 1. At least, then it was police stations and random buildings. Now they have taken the fight to top miltary officials in Buhari's govt. What other way to tell an administration how weak it is? 2. That NNPC said so is not the issue. It is merely a moral and social duty to give honour to whom honour is due. 3. Assuming what you say is true, how could you possibly qualify that as an achievement. 4. Judging by Buhari's antecedents, I can tell that he is confused, and lacks the necessary administrative competence to pilot the affairs of this nation (I stand to be proven wrong in due course). Good, now you know it's a 2-month government, yet you're quick to call it's success unrivalled? So we should celebrate this "unrivalled" success and not call out its gaffes? Bro, hypocrisy kills faster than road accident, repent! 12 Likes 1 Share |

Re: Buhari's Presidency - Two Months Of Indisputable Success by hinwazaka: 11:39pm On Jul 30, 2015 |
PassingShot:first and foremost I must state that your writeup is the next thing to a joke The increase in foreign reserves is simply due to the cut back in the importation of goods by denying foreign exchange to importers. While this may appear to be effective in the short term it has dismerits in the long term such as rise in smuggling activities, sharp rise in prices and also inflation. This will be brought about by the fact that local production can not meet up with demand The much publicised bailout has not yet come into effect. Your very own governors stated this fact at their NGF forum. What transpired was the distribution of monies recovered from the NLNG and shell tax. Also bailouts are not always effective in the long run especially when the economy is not favourable, check the US bailout story of 2008. This eventually ended up as a failure when consumer demand and the real estate market failed to kick into gear Modest achievement is an understatement for the massacre that greeted the Eid el Fitr holidays. There has been no gains by this government concerning the Boko Haram issue. The army don't yet have a strategic plan that encompasses intelligence as a means to gain a slight advantage Also there is actual footage of PMB stating that Boko Haram activities will end two hours after his inauguration. He said it on channels TV on Seun Ogunbanjo's programme. Channels TV repeated it in their hourly newstrack program two weeks ago 11 Likes |
