Its simple the EU doesn't like buhari's visit to USA so they are in a way trying to show there anger.

If they ban our goods then China, India and other countries are opened for business

D EU had issued 50 notifications 2 beans exporters since 2013. So were does not liking buharis visit 2 US come in2 d picture? China and India can take nigeria as a dumping ground doesn't mean they will allow nigeria make their country a dumping ground as well

Did you READ the article?

The warnings were first issued from Jan 2013! Long before Buhari won the election. So its NOTHING to do with your politics.

Don't blame others on what is YOUR OWN FAULT.

Pesticides are a BIG PROBLEM - you know this (or at least should) but IGNORED over 2 years worth of warnings!

Eventually even China etc will refuse such contaminated product.

Stop acting the poor victim for your own problems.

And remember 99% of European don't know Buhari or his policies or care in the slightest about where he visits. Wherever did this moronic and illogical and just plain stupid idea originate!

It's all political. Funny thing is, after all this undermining of Nigeria, if Nigeria should collapse and refugees and economic migrants flood Calais, they will start complaining and asking daft questions such as why do immigrants want to swamp Europe.

Its so appauling dt at dis 21st Century Nigeria is still Dependent on Imported commodities,I stand to be corrected if wrong bt 90% of the food we consume in dis country is imported and the masses contribute greatly to this cos we dnt even believe in locally produce anymore,Ban or No Ban,we can survive without this EU if only we can make policies dt can encourage our farmers nd the government at all level should ban importation of those products into this country

Mr. Statistian do you need language lesson before u know we are talking about export and not import?

No wonder Nigerians die off like flies.! I read with disdain the fact that people on this forum were recommending that these products which were vehemently rejected by the intelligent Europeans because of its high level of toxicidity should be sold to the idiotic and hopeless Nigerians as it will bring down prices. Tufiakwa.! shocked This evil contraption called Nigeria is a zoo.
So a white man rejects a product because it is not fit for human consumption and yet you see idiots here clamouring for the same products? Oops sorry I forgot they said "not fit for human consumption" Nigerians are Babooons and Monkeys. angry

Very disheartening that we can't adhere to int'l standard which were put in place for our safety.

Europe rejected those food items cos they passed the maximum percentage of used pesticide, but we eat it everyday and when sickness comes we start running from church to church, from Alfa to Alfa, hoping God wld perform a miracle.

My pipo God no dey work dat way.

If u decide to kill ursef, he won't kom to ur rescue.

We are talking about how it would affect our economy, forgeting the fact that we consume these same food items locally.

NAFDAC has been a total wash-out since Dora (RIP) left the agency.

The excuses giving by Europe is rubbish. The amount of toxic fish and poultry products that originated from Europe never waranted Nigeria to place a ban on European products, how dare they ban Nigeria's agro products Is this part of the modus of world trade among countries
For decades western countries have searching for ways to stale Africa's economic development. Baning African products in the name of low standard seem to be the most effective way to achieve their objectives. How many people have died in Nigeria for consuming water melons and cocao beans
Looking back to the 1700s prior to colonization of Africa, Europe and America forced least developed regions of the world to trade at the barrel of a gun, forcing poor countries like Japan and China to open their borders. How was the quality of their products then Was the trade a mutual benefit or exploitation?
African countries must rise up and put a stop to this nonsence by trading with each other and forging economic ties with developing countries in Asia and South America.
The ban of Nigeria's agro products by Europe may be connected to the European trade agreement Nigeria refused to sign since 2014.

If we had a Minister in charge of Agric, he would have seen the handwriting on the wall and taken steps to at least postpone the hammer to allow time for implementation of stringent measures, but whosai?

It also means the beans we consume are not safe

We are talking about health implications here you are mentioning yoruba. Is that all you can think of in this occurrence?
Shame on you!

If Europe can ban this stuff cuz of pesticides then that means we that consume this stuff in Nigeria are consuming harzadous pesticides and nothing is being done about it.

May God help this nation Nigeria. Only God can help this country from all these rubbish.

Lord how do people think so dumb like this? Did you go to school at all?

So because we do not have the sheer commom sense and capability to place restrictions on toxic products from Europe for safety concerns, they too should now accept toxic products from Nigeria?

Instead of you to be more concerned about what you eat daily in the market and how unsafe it is, you are blaming Europe and mentioning yeye trade pact.

Trade pact ko, trade pata and bra ni.

Europe has done the right thing for its citizens. Nigeria should rise and be more concerned about the health of its citizens. We should have grass root agencies and control that test all products from the farm before they enter our markets.

POLITICAL - RUBBISH!

You have been warned for well over two years about dangerous levels of pesticides. You lazily did nothing and now when what was said would happen actually happens you look for pathetic excuses to shift the blame.

Do you think the rest of the world cares so much about you?

Its that Europe cares about its own health and does not want to eat pesticide! Immigrants want to swamp Europe because of this attitude instead of one that would rather look for pathetic excuses than behave in a rational manner due to laziness and inertia!

Just do the right thing and you beans will be on the market again like other more responsible producers. Much easier than looking for miserable excuses for your own failures. Fix the problem rather than just complain about it.

I won't blame them, the oil we see in our local market this days is just full of concortion, the mixture of colouring in oil and other stuff, gives our oil an unpleasant smell ,if the Nigeria market is competing with other country in west Africa, I am sure this will continue until we strive to bring out the best

Oh lawd, I have to leave this thread. I'm reading too many dumb posts.

Are you not concerned that those products are actually hazardous? Now I am convinced that you are a murderer in disguise. Merely for you to think that we should be shipping hazardous products to lesser countries like India who also may not have effective food screening procedures suggests you are a vold blooded murderer.
You want to poison the whole world with pesticide-laced food. It wont happen.
