If you mean full scolarship payment
You must be the top one or two students in the school to be considered.
Can you do that?

wooow that entails serious book work and doing all the given assignment and reading constantly.... Well no qualms about that. Its a masters in mechanical engineering, maybe a GA or TA slot, might not be full.... But all the same thanks

Assuming that everything is in perfect working order at the border, you get a stamp. But not everything is always in perfect working order. That's why I said we weigh this against other facts. The information may even be discounted (it's not a negative, it just doesn't help). Maybe someone is telling the truth about it or maybe they are lying.

The reality is that travelling to Benin, Ghana, or even Togo will not compare to travelling to the UK, US, or some place like Australia in the eyes of the VO. Driving a few hours to the border isn't the same as flying halfway across the world to an entirely different culture.

Summing things up, a Benin Republic travel history of such short-distance is not regarded as solid as one of long-distance, say, Australia, South Africa, Europe etc. In that regard, a Benin Republic travel history is not that much of tangible one that is worth certain risks, especially if one does not have proof for it (i.e. illegal entry to another country).

Finally, let us get things straight for the benefit of everyone on here. So, you are implicitly implying that the embassy of the United States would regard illegal migration to a country (entry to a country without proper documentation) as 'valid' travel history for an adult over 21 years old?

I don't think so. Although I bought a T-Mobile line, I know someone that brought a Verizon branded Bold 5 from Nigeria and the phone refused to work with any other provider except Verizon.

The one I mentioned who had the minutes thingy with AT&T had a Q10 then. And it worked perfectly with her phone

Yes it does piggyback on T-Mobile but when I put it in my phone and tried activating it, it told me to put in my zipcode and there it told me the service was not available in my area. I didn't even bother anymore.

Oh gotcha!
I'm currently using a blackberry 10 on the t-mobile network and it works just fine here in Miami. My iPhone broke and I just dusted he phone and started using it again(Please don't ask how I got a nano-sim(iPhone) to work in a blackberry 10(micro sim port).

Is it advisable for one to take loan in US for his studies?

I think we discussed this yesterday. You have every tool at your disposal to enrol in school and get a US degree. Majority of college students you see walking around on campus pay their tuition and fees on loan (FAFSA) and some begin to pay back once they are done with school and are working or some begin to pay back before they are done with school, depending on the circumstances or terms and agreement of the loan.

Go for it. Do what you have to do to graduate. After you graduate you can start paying back that loan month by month until you finish paying it off.

If someone is living off campus and has a doctor in US, can the person get a health insurance waiver?

How do you mean 'have a doctor in the US'?

I am not too familiar with the health insurance policies of the United States but I do know that medical consultations with a doctor incur bills, which are often expensive, and this is where having health insurance comes into play because the medical company pays most of your medical bills on your behalf and you take care of the remaining tiny bit left. In that regard, I think that even to see a personal doctor will still incur bills and you would definitely need health insurance to help out with the bills because the doctor has to feed as well, except the doctor runs medical services pro bono. grin

Once again, my distant opinion.

What's the best service provider to use in US? What's the cost per month? With the phone and sim, how much? With only a sim, how much?

If you wanna go for the best, AT&T or T-Mobile are really great in service coverage and provision but they cost a bit extra. However, H20 (a sub company of AT&T) is quite cheap at $30 per month ($35 initially for the starter kit when you buy it) and comes with data, unlimited texting and calling. Simple Mobile (a sub company of T-Mobile) is also good at $40 per month ($50 initially for the starter kit) and comes with unlimited texting and calling. This is prepaid, just as we are used to it in Nigeria, and is just the SIM card alone which you can slot in a good working phone of yours. Be sure to look out for the sim card size, micro, mini or nano size, to ensure that it is a good fit for your phone.

If you are looking at saving cost while at the same time enjoying the best of network coverage and services, go for H20 or Simple Mobile. You could find an H20 starter kit in many grocery stores around you.

Yeah but it's a lil bit tricky for international students.
If you want a loan as a foreign student, be sure to have a solid plan on how to pay back and know the risks.

After first semester as graduate(Masters) student, can one transfer his credit hours to another school? How does one go about transferring?

It is possible. A friend of mine just transferred from Florida to Texas for this fall 2015. But the transfer of credits is not usually assured especially if both courses in both universities are not related. If related, you would need to talk with the departmental HOD to see which they could accept. Otherwise, you would have to start your new program from the beginning.

Basically, you would need to get admission from another university - the one you wish to transfer to, obtain their I-20 then request for your SEVIS records to be transferred from university A to university B. Also ensure that you owe not any tuition at your exit university else you will not be released for transfer.

His means of obtaining the loan is already secure. He knows what I am talking about. He is just asking for opinions on whether to proceed with it or not.
