Sir, for some time now, I have been thinking on the possibility of creating this type of improvise, though in a larger scale.

Here is the scenerio: In a typical cybercafe or biz centre, each PC has its own UPS for power back up untill chang-over is effected. In the long run it becomes costly & stressful to manage the different UPS allocated to each PC unit.

Now sir, how can someone devise this backup system in such a way that a singular but bigger UPS supplies all the PC? Bear in mind that this is not meant to supply power for long hours, but just for the moment change-over is made from either PHCN to Gen or vice versa. This I believe will be more cost effective, less demanding & easier to run, than buying smaller UPS for each PC system.

The parametres to consider are 10 PC units, each unit comprising of:
1. Desktop = 70 - 90 watts (powering USB Plug n Play devices like keyboard, Flash drive, mouse & modem)
2. Monitor = 30 - 40 watts

U can get a 100 ah 150ah or 200ah battery to power all PC at same time alll u need is the 100ah,150ah or 200ah battery, extension boxes,a smart charger,a ups.
Ur ups is either the one with one battery 7ah (10Pc)= 7ah x 10PC=70ah ,so ur batteries in ur ups all put together is 70ah, so get a 100ah,150ah or 200ah battery and change ur box desktop monitors to lcd monitors, these box monitors consume to much power

This is 2015 sir nobody uses box monitor anymore in my hood. None of those boxes consume less than 120 watts

Go to oshodi main market 650Va ups is there for 1,500 naira used without battery, mercury ups is good too, all u need is a ups that will notify u when ur battery power is low, my blue gate ups is the latest model, when u put it on it beeps 17 times and the then stop beeping, the next time u will hear the beeping sound again is when the battery is week so u turn off ur appliance and the ups, don't allow ur battery die on ur ups all the time, it will reduce the life span of that battery
Call this guy at oshodi main market 08034627274 , he has all kinds of used ups, ups inverter and inverter, I bought from him, he introduced me to the battery seller

It will but the battery will be charged full in 100days of 24hr light.
Those ups was only designed to charge small batteries

nice setup and i got very inspired. . . i actually did this , but with a difference

- it is connected to the whole building . . .
- it doesn't come on automatically to prevent burning out the little powered transformer in the UPS. . so when there is power outage, i switch off heavy appliances . . TV, decoder, fan, light bulbs (all energy savers) can stay on; or whatever else i need to use.
- the UPS is wired directly to the mains such that once there is power, it's always charging . . so while changover is manual, the charging is automatic

i will try to send in snapshots of the whole connection asap

I will connect mine to every appliance , I am still testing the 12v 42ah battery that I bought today as soon as I am done testing I will connect to Ann energy saving bulb and a rechargeable fan, I am looking for a fan with just 10watts ,I now have 12v 36ah, 12v 40ah and 12v 42ah battery, making it a total of 12v 118ah battery , I bought the panasonic 12v 42ah in oshodi today

@ceejay. But lemme give u a clue! U can recycle the power supply from the ups,that is plug the smart charger back to the power supply from the ups and put on ur battery,with that it will never go off!

Bros what is the amp of the charger and that of the load? I will suggest a monocrystalline solar panel with this set up with that nepa can go away. I hate generator noise.

Do u know that by adding distilled water to ur battery ,will make ur battery perfom better and last longer? I mean distilled water and not tap water or bottled table water or well water, one of my batteries used to malfunction, but after adding distilled water to it, its now ok and performing better,

do not add tap water or bottled table water or well water to it, they contain chemicals that will damage ur battery, I don't know if u one can get distilled water in nigerian stores ,but in Europe and US ,u can actually walk into a store and buy one, u can also use water dropping out from an airconditioner

No I did not , I only short circuited it and chose the one that sparked very well, but he gave me 1 week guarantee, don't have light now but its on my charger and when its fully charged, I will load on that battery on my appliance and see how long it will last, I will still add distilled water to it when I have fully charged it, distilled water will increase its performance

while the water dripping from an air conditioning unit might be very clean (not 100% distilled), it's still contaminated
because the drain-hose could actually be very dirty inside . . .

Then, use rain water. Rain water falling in directly to ur container and not from the roof of ur house

The 42ah battery is still on testing, powering my appliances with the battery, I want to know how long it will power my appliance
