Only the Person who sent them can fully answer that. I am only reminding you of what was revealed about their nature. My opinion is that the personal pronoun he/him is used to address them because it would be "impolite" or maybe "irreverent" to use it. These beings are not earthly beings so we may only be projecting our own bias unto them. I am also of the opinion that the patriarchal nature of those times made it so that that bias was expressed as male.
