I think couples should have separate bedrooms. Sometimes you just need your alone time and that's when you can retire to your room to meditate. However, you can spend most times together, but when you feel like being alone, you stay in your separate rooms. You are married, true, but that doesn't mean you should lose your identity.

i understand u, this works for some especially when there is understanding like in ur situation but for others that marks the start of trouble, the man starts to keep secrets and so does the wife, and it gets worst..........i also keep wondering if marriage couples should lose their individual identities and build a new one together but i guess it varies from couple to couple.

That's where effective communication comes in during courtship. You discuss your likes and dislikes, your habits, quirks and such, and try to agree on a compromise. If you are in love with a control freak to who the concept of 'personal space' is alien to, you try to reach a compromise. She meets you half way, you meet her halfway. If a compromise cannot be reached then reconsider your impending union because if you go into marriage with unresolved issues, trust me, it's only going to get worse.
