How about North West that voted exclusively for Buhari in 2011, were they reminded everyday that they must be in opposition or they are 5%?

If as you claim that South West votes personality, I'm guessing you didn't know those who contested 2011 election and how the SW voted. What changed? or did Jonathan had superior personality than Buhari in 2011 that SW voted overwhelmly for the PDP?

Democracy is a game of choice and nobody should be punished for freely having a choice. You cannot say that a geopolitical zone is opposition, saying that, as Joe Igbokwe is alluding to, is to give credence to the perception by SE that they will be excluded in this government.

You may rejoice today because it is SE, we don't know the future. We may move into a president who will be responsible to only his political zone.
@enboldened, the problem is that when you have almost all the political leaders from one region in the opposition, there will be a disconnect. We can all try to deny it and say it wont happen but it will be there.

Example is when the ACN called the governors from the SW to an economic summit but Ondo did not attend because Mimiko was in LP.

Please don't say what you do not know.

Read that article properly and take note of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd republic politics that were referred to. You will see that the Hausa and Igbos have been in alliance several times, they have never been in opposition.
Either she is a kid or a liar.

The Eboes have never been in opposition, even when they lose elections they will sell out shamelessly just to be part of the central government

That is not true.

The North gave Jonathan over 8 million votes in 2011, just 3 million less than Buhari. Over 1/3 of the NW voted Jonathan.

Regionally you might be correct, but nationally the success of the ACN dudes can primarily be credited to their alliance with other regions. What are Igbokwe's people doing in that regard? That is the underlying message he is trying to transmit by asking them to go back to the trenches and re-strategize.

Even on the regional level which was the foundation the ACN dudes built on, what are they doing? You really think PDP which is being revived by Atiku and Saraki is a SE party?
But part of strategizing and forming alliance is by their own people being in the APC and not just a handful of people like Rochas, Ngige and Onu. More of them needs to be actively involved in the APC.

The whole Atiku, Saraki thing is just laughable.

That is the reason I laugh when people say the SW "sold out" when it comes to President Jonathan. Because this guy won in 2011 convincingly.

People have said he lost because people were lied to and and the media was used to propagate stuff but seriously? You do not lose that type of numbers by people lying, it is a vote of no confidence.

People have eyes to see stuff around them and felt President Jonathan failed. QED

The APC was roundly rejected in the region and from their body language and Igbokwe's testimony, they are not ready to allow people to come and reap where they did not sow.

The man is saying for them to regain political relevance, they have to put in work.

Ugh.

Man I am SICK of Nigeria's Machavellian style of tribal politics which hasn't done jack for the average person who just wants something to give in his life.

The elite 1% get off on oil wealth and play "game of thrones" using their tribe and they are secure because the educated illiterates that form the wider "5% elite" enable these behaviors, sitting around in social media and blabbing day in and out about fake "political analysis."

Igbos, opposition politics, presidency, APC/PDP. HTF will this help the average Igbo person? Sure as as hell didn't do shoit for the average Northerner, SSner, or Westerner.

SICK AND TIRED.

GEJ did not win osun in 2011
Re: Can The Igbo Play Opposition In Nigeria? by size40: 6:59am On Aug 04, 2015
Igbo people, una don hear? U people are so bitter because of GEJ's defeat at the poll. Those of us from south-south where GEJ hail from, are not as bitter as the Igbo's. Why? They should fight their Biafra fight alone oooo. We are not part and percel of it. This because I have been saying it that the Igbo's are try to curry our support for Biafra struggle just because GEJ lost an election to Buhari, a northerner. But believe me, not even GEJ will support Biafran struggle how more allowing Ijaw land to be called Biafra.

No one is mentioning the SS because the SS is not as tribally homogenous as the SE.

Of the 5 states in the SE, 3 is PDP right? That's a 60% and if we look at the results of the the last senatorial and presidential elections we can have a pattern

We are talking regions and and you are talking about how neighborhoods voted. How do you know which areas voted Jonathan? Did the election results specify religion?

1/3 (over 3 million votes) of the NW which includes Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Katsina, Jigawa states etc. voted Jonathan so you have no point.

So President Jonathan got +8 million votes from "the NC states and the christian dominated parts of Kadunna and adamawa"?

Is this a joke?

President Buhari got less than 500,000 votes in the whole SOUTH!!!!!!

In the first Republic, the Igbo-dominated NCNC formed an alliance with the northern-based NPC to form a government in the center. In the Second Republic the Igbo-dominated NPP again teamed up with the NPN to form the national government in the center. In the third Republic during the NRC-SDP era, MKO Abiola won the election fair and square on the platform of the SDP but the majority of the Igbo, led by the late Odumegwu Ojukwu, (Ikemba Nnewi) the late Evans Enwerem, and Okwesilieze Nwodo, teamed up with prominent Igbo and even some prominent Yoruba leaders to support IBB, Shonekan, and Abacha to sustain the annulment of that election. Again, for 16 years the PDP was in power
in Nigeria, and the Igbo was with the PDP.

N.B read carefully and in all honest tell us who the slaves are??

Did Joe Igbokwe peeped into my profile? i wrote something similar waaayyy back in March

gists:
For the first time since Nigeria returned to democratic governance 16 years ago, the east and western parts of the country are about to switch side with respect to being in the ruling vs opposition party.
For example, Lagos is set to align for the first time with Aso rock since 1999! But While the south west had mastered the act of surviving being on the other side of the ruling party, South east is just about to have a taste of what it means to be an opposition.

The Igbos are very smart and hard working people - forget the brainless saTANoids on nairaland. We have seen some very prominent sons and daughters from that region under Obasanjo's administration. Sadly, GEJ's administration didn't promote any ace Igbo genius. However, I am confident they can weather the storm. But I hope we will not see another TAN singing senseless praises of Buhari if he errs or another Youth Earnestly Ask for Buhari (as we saw during Abacha's era).

Those making a mockery of Igbo may soon eat their words as we are about to truly see how resilient new breeds of people from that part of the country.

There is always fiction mixed with fact. How many people voted in total in 2011 compared to 2015. I believe the drop was around 10 million(I could be wrong) but a very large number which lends credence to the fact that there was massive rigging in 2011.
It is difficult to interpret election results in Nigeria when we consider the scale of rigging

In 1979 there were 449 members of the House of representatives

NPN 168

UPN 111

NPP 78

PRP 49

PRP and GNPP were northern parties but they also chose opposition. We can see those who depend on National cake most. The REAL parasites

GNPP 43

The Eboes in NPP went into alliance with NPN so as to produce the speaker from NPP Edwin Ume-Ezeoke
Whilst the Yorubas in UPN rejected alliance choosing principle over pottage and stayed in opposition.

Facts are stubborn
