The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has revealed that the unemployment rate in the country in on the rise.

Unemployment in Nigeria - Naij.com's guest author Hassani Obaro wonders why Nigerians face unemployment under the condition of labour shortage.

The NBS in a report released yesterday in Abuja, said the unemployment rate in the second quarter of the year rose to 8.2 per cent from the 7.5 per cent rate it was in the preceding quarter.

The recent rise was the consecutive jump in unemployment rate since the third quarter of last year.

Analysis of unemployment rate revealed that the working age, comprising persons within the age of 15 to 64, increased to 103.5 million in the Q2 up from 102.8 million in the first quarter.

The Bureau disclosed that the labour force population, which includes those within the working age, who are willing, and actively looking for work, increased to 74.0 million in Q2 from 73.4 million in Q1, indicating an increase in the labour force by 0.81 per cent.
Which means, 574,498 economically active persons aged between 15 and 64 joined the labour market during the quarter under review.

The agency blamed the decline in the number of full employment to job losses or previously fully-employed persons, choosing or being forced to work part-time.

so pathetic but actually one don't need to rely on the government. even after getting the job you may be sacked any time. my advice is several people seems to be promoting several ways to make money online. some are truth while some are lies. well i make money online with expired domain parking. what is it you may ask? it involves buying and expired domain name for just $9, park it for free, after parking it the parking company will now put ads all over it and it will look exactly like a website. now this is how you make money from it; whenever a visitor visits that domain and click on an ad you make money! as simply as that. another way is to sell that domain. just last year famous ebola.com was sold for $200,000 by it's owner with an investment of just N2,000 for more information do a goggle search or visit www.vrglo.com #my2cent

Most people don't understand what's going on...rate of unemployment is increasing all over the world not just in Nigeria but so is the economies and GDPs of most countries. The answer is due to the presence of ever advancing technologies that continue to mop up jobs previously carried out by man power. The corporations love it cos It's more efficient, lowers cost of operation, less strikes and union issues and optimum results. Today we have computers that take care of almost 80% of what the labour force did in the years past. It's just like an island where you have 10 fishermen who provide daily supply of fish for the inhabitants. But these fishermen all fish with hooks and one day missionaries come by and decide to give a boat to one fisherman and a fishing net to another. These 2 fishermen together will get results in a day that the other 8 guys can't produce in a week. Automatically the cost of buying fish goes down due to presence of excess fish. The economy of the island jumps up, the 2 fishermen become millionaires but the other 8 men re out of jobs...It's important we all look inward, leaveage and develop other streams of income rather than wait for the govt to manufacture jobs from nowhere.
