MrsPhyno: Yes, the Yorubas of igboland suits them very much and ive heard that too. From their partying to their lavish ways to their dancing style (with their butts ) LOL what state do you think im from ?? I have tried to include all of them in equal measure but its hard since I have limited exposure. tried not to be baised Really I don't know except that all this "state" stuff is artificial. Those boundaries are just for political reasons, which wont affect how people act. If they changed all the boundaries tomorrow, they would still act in the same way even if we were all one big state (which I think we were ) |

Gurgle:You just reeeeek of Anambra state. You be confam Anambra babe, I just know it. Yes or yes? Yeah Eastern Central State. Some people still want them to form more states you know. For more political clout I guess. The north has like 19 states I heard lmao and we have 5. Even Ebonyi was created pretty recently right. Even Anambra and Enugu split 'recently' self. |

MrsPhyno: Looool unfortunately for privacy/security reasons I never reveal my state on here. All that I can tell you is that im laughing out loud hahaha yeah for political clout, more federal $$$$$$ allocations and because of the way Igbo society is. Being very republican, it can get complicated when in one state, one Igbo clan holds more power than the others. For example in the recent elections, Abia state. The ngwas and ohafians and other groups were all jostling for who should be governor. **MODIFIED** The Nsukka people of Enugu are agitating for the creation of another state, Adada state. I guess because they don't feel that their interests are being protected well enough Ebonyi used to be in Imo state lol, you can imagine how that would work. So Ebonyi had to try and forge something for themselves before they got swallowed up If we all had our way we would just split into tiny states; I guess as we were before. Hmm! Ndi Igbo no dey carry last ooo |

Gurgle:Okay madam security. One can never be too careful indeed but I'm sure my guess is right You certainly know a lot about Igbo politics mehn I'm impressed. It was hard for me to even get into at first because when your in Lagos it feels like that's all their is to Nigeria. Very cosmopolitan... I'm not really sure where this yearning to know about home is from all of a sudden but I'm indulging myself. If these people don't watch themselves every village will insist on being its own state. I liked the Eastern Central State idea better tho, but in modern Nigeria it's not possible.... |

Re: Igbo Stereotypes by Ihuomadinihu: 7:02pm On Aug 05, 2015 |
Gurgle:Some of these things are correct though. For instance, the fact that Imo girls are more beautiful. I have seen more fair and beautiful owerri girls than i have seen in all Igbo states put together, lol. Owerri women used to be generally tough and pro feminist in their matrimonial homes, but i think that has changed. As for Mbaise, they wouldn't admit it but they are like that. Go for an interview with an mbaise friend and watch him take up the job before you. Ha na asi na Mbaise nwere mmadu. So they know how to go through the back door and get what they want thru their kins. Abia people in general seem to be the military arm of igbo people probably cos of their warlike culture in the past. Anambra women like to chop abi squander money. Wooo, let me go before..... 5 Likes |

cheruv: I was actually trying to think of some Delta state ones but apart from the obvious political ones, I cant think of any light-hearted ones Do you think I should add that one? Or is that too heavy I have met about 4 Delta people who behave like that, so... (as well as others who do not, obviously) |
Re: Igbo Stereotypes by Gurgle(f): 7:55pm On Aug 05, 2015 |
MrsPhyno: You know that is only the surface of Igbo politics which I learned from my parents, im actually quite clueless lol. And yeah I imagine its hard for Igbos living in Lagos and Abuja because those places have their own inherent culture which is contributed to by lots of tribes from all over Nigeria. It takes a conscious effort from the individual to remember that youre not all the same deep down Yeah, before we were colonised there wasn't even anything called "Igbo"; we were all happy in our villages. We only became a big group in the face of other big groups, which is why we're still so disunited. We weren't really made to be united in the first place 3 Likes |

Ihuomadinihu: Lol, so which one are you? yeah Ohaofia people seem very serious. I guess due to their previous occupation as warriors. Let me add that one yeah Owerri and Anambra women have a reputation for power-struggles with husbands and the like. I haven't seen many divorced ones but the ones I have seen are divorced for that exact reason. "Does this guy think Im one stup!d village girl that he can oppress..Mbanununu..." Oh gosh. Ndi Igbo what are we going to do with ourselves 1 Like |

Re: Igbo Stereotypes by chigoizie7(m): 9:25pm On Aug 05, 2015 |
Ihuomadinihu: Permit me to say that the reason why it seem imo has the finest girls is because owerri happens to be the headquarters of all the runs girls from south-east,and u know that most runs girls are always very beautiful or very sexy(endowed, up and down). So, majority of the girls that are fine that u see in owerri are not actually imo state by origin, na business carry dem come owerri, My 2cents though 4 Likes |
Re: Igbo Stereotypes by Ihuomadinihu: 11:06pm On Aug 05, 2015 |
chigoizie7:No! Sorry, that's not true. You make it seem like every beautiful girl in Owerri is a runs girl! How is that logical? I have seen beautiful responsible Owerri girls,it has nothing to do with runs. It's just a fact, Owerri girls are the most beautiful in the South East regardless of profession. Runs girls don't have to be fair and beautiful to join the trade though,i passed through Otigba junction(Enugu) twice and the runs girls were not good looking. This is such an unpleasant topic sha. How do you equate beauty to runs work? 1 Like |

Gurgle: It's an Ekpe masquerade and it's name is Okonko. It comes out during the burial ceremonies of initiated members/important people as well as during New Yam Festivals and public processions (such as that in the pic). Back in the day, it was used to issue arrest warrants. 2 Likes |
Re: Igbo Stereotypes by Afam4eva(m): 5:19am On Aug 06, 2015 |
Radoillo:That stereotype usually extends to the entire Igbo race. We keep hearing about how Igbo men don't go to school butbive come to realize that, its not that Igbo men don't go to school, in fact they're one of the highest school goers. It's just that the illiteratebones always become rich and famous at the end of the day. 1 Like |
Re: Igbo Stereotypes by Nobody: 6:16am On Aug 06, 2015 |
Afam4eva:Yeah. I have literally no idea where that stereotype comes from. I've /yet/ to meet an Igbo illiterate whereas from other tribes Not saying much but I thought they were the most educated people in Nigeria. Was one stereotype that threw me off, however it's not so bad. Education without money is meaningless (my opinion ) so better to have a reputation for being a money magnet than for being a 'scholar' |
