No, that's not the point. They use these gadgets to cover up their emptiness as they are always glued to them. In a gathering, it is sensible enough to drop your gadgets and stop pinging and chatting and discuss with people. It is more lively!

And until the guys stop appreciating and placing lip compliments to these things, we will take you serious.

Let me be brash here..........

-Guys must learn not to be intimidated by the sophistication of the lady they would love to walk up to
-No human has the right to determine the acceptable way for another human to spend his/her money
-We must learn not to generalize

-Pretending to be what you are not to make up for your inferiority complex only shows how empty you are
-Humility is Gold
-Try not to show off, no matter how tempting it is to see awe in the eyes of your audience, dont do it! Believe me, when one day they finally find out somehow your true worth, they'll not only hold you in high esteem, they will respect you. Even your friends. On the other hand, even if truly you have millions in your account and you are taking every advantage to show it off, people will tell you to your face that you are just pretending.
