Thanks for your response... I agree with you; think they are bored hearing Princeton stuff...I got to say the 'real reason on how and why I chose the school I did on my next interview. I appreciate your contribution

I don't know that VOs are necessarily bored of hearing the Princeton Review answer - but if this is the real reason for selecting a school then you should be able to speak credibly about the other schools that ranked higher. I have literally had an applicant tell me that he chose a school because it was ranked #47 out of over 4,000 schools on Princeton Review.

No other reason.

Could not explain why he did not apply to # 1-46.

Abeg please help me understand how this makes sense.

probably from "transcripts" here someone has actually aggressively had stronger explanations which another VO got swayed by??

so much for subjectivity . . .

so an "intent" during interview is subjective and not a sure way of genuinely separating the desperados from the genuine ones?
do you think an immigration policy like that of the UK will be a better way of keeping the ones with immigrant intent out??
Cos if a student prior to applying already has intentions of "staying" (weda via the employment visa or other genuine routes) that intent has already knocked out that applicant but VOs still have a challenge understanding and categorizing these intents

Becoming a student for the sole purpose of immigrating is not the same as going somewhere as a student and happening to immigrate through a legitimate route. There is a subtle, but significant, difference.

US immigration law is legislated by the US congress; it's their job, not the VOs,' to determine whether or not other methods are better.

@LagosNIV, a quick one, if I have a F1 visa and I entered the US without enrolling in the school and leaves a month after for another country to study or for some other purposes.
Will I be granted a tourist/visit visa if I apply one or two years after?
Will I also be granted if I did not travel to the US at all till the F1 visa expires?
I await your detailed response.
Thank you.

in other words 100% of Nigerian applicants denied an F1 visa do not merit the visa at that time?? ceteris paribus

How do you determine the student that "HAPPENED" to immigrate tru the available legitimate route did not have that intent from day one?
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 7 by kellycute(m): 7:11pm On Aug 06, 2015

F1s are non-immigrant visas. But it's not the same as a B1/B2 tourist visa...

The strongest measure for a F1 visa is whether or not there is student intent (Are you actually going there to study? Are you a legitimate student?) and whether or not the visa will be used correctly (If you quit school or get kicked out, will you leave?). We fully recognize that many students will develop strong ties in the US and get married, some students will get immigrant visa petitions submitted on their behalf by multinational corporations, some will continue on to more advanced education programs, and others will return home.

The problem, though, is that there seems to be a rumor that student visas are an easy way to get into the US. Individuals who are abusing the system ruin it for everyone else by imposing a much higher bar. That being said I don't think I have ever heard a VO ask a question that is unreasonable for an applicant to know and answer honestly. Most VOs have been to colleges or universities in the US. Many have graduate degrees. We are very familiar with the decision-making process that goes into choosing a school and claiming that "the weather in North Dakota is very amenable to Africans" is not a factor. It's also not even an accurate statement.
wow, I like this. Thank for the info. But I wanna ask why is that some VO won't allow someone to used the microphone? I couldn't hear what she was saying cos her voice was really low, like a whisper, and she didn't allowed me to used the microphone. That was really frustrating you know.

Travelling to the US on a student visa and failing to enroll in school is a violation of the terms of that visa.

Can you get a B1/B2 tourist visa? Technically, yes.
Will you get a B1/B2 tourist visa? You tell me if you would trust someone who broke the rules once to suddenly start doing the right thing.

Not travelling on your F1, on the other hand, is not a violation. You should be ready to explain it when applying in the future, of course.

Hello Sorbital
LagosNIV is repeating exactly what I said after reading your transcript.

...You failed to convincingly explain to the VO why you chose a particular "highly" ranked school from a list of other "highly" school which you applied.

This is a sure question most VO's ask and also an easy way to win their hearts.

Sometimes, VO's even ask this question twice especially when you didn't convince him/her the first time.

For your next interview... gather your points and arrange them neatly in order of importance (as you deem fit)
...Then you need to rehearse the hell out of it so you can recall even if someone points a gun at you.

But ultimately, ask God to help you. A lot of people here implored His help and it made their interview seamless!

Goodluck bruh!!!
Make this one count.
