I don't know that VOs are necessarily bored of hearing the Princeton Review answer - but if this is the real reason for selecting a school then you should be able to speak credibly about the other schools that ranked higher. I have literally had an applicant tell me that he chose a school because it was ranked #47 out of over 4,000 schools on Princeton Review.

No other reason.

Could not explain why he did not apply to # 1-46.

Abeg please help me understand how this makes sense.
Please, I would like to know the possibility of getting reinstated back. I fell out of status due to finance and now I have the funds for my program now. Do I still have a chance

Hello Sorbital
LagosNIV is repeating exactly what I said after reading your transcript.

...You failed to convincingly explain to the VO why you chose a particular "highly" ranked school from a list of other "highly" school which you applied.

This is a sure question most VO's ask and also an easy way to win their hearts.

Sometimes, VO's even ask this question twice especially when you didn't convince him/her the first time.

For your next interview... gather your points and arrange them neatly in order of importance (as you deem fit)
...Then you need to rehearse the hell out of it so you can recall even if someone points a gun at you.

But ultimately, ask God to help you. A lot of people here implored His help and it made their interview seamless!

Goodluck bruh!!!
Make this one count.

Thanks bro, I really appreciate... I have decided to go by the 'real reason...do you mind if I should share you my transcript? Please don't mind, I really need you to help me review it

Travelling to the US on a student visa and failing to enroll in school is a violation of the terms of that visa.

Can you get a B1/B2 tourist visa? Technically, yes.
Will you get a B1/B2 tourist visa? You tell me if you would trust someone who broke the rules once to suddenly start doing the right thing.

Not travelling on your F1, on the other hand, is not a violation. You should be ready to explain it when applying in the future, of course.
Thank you very much for your explanation. It was really on point.

Folks should learn from the bolded. V.Os understand that we all can't have perfect GRE scores, GPAs, etc. Some students will graduate with a GPA greater than 3.5 and some lesser. Some will even graduate with a GPA less than 3.0. So, there is nothing wrong in saying that you did not meet the admission requirements of those top schools. Not all of us can get into Stanford, Yale, Harvard, etc. It's that simple.

Ok cool

Share with some other gurus here too... They're quite knowledgeable about these things too then you can bring the information you get together and form a decent plan for yourself.

Good morning everyone....waoh am sorry this transcript is coming very late at this early morning (3:47am). I slept off nio, was seriously tired when i got home. So i have no choice than to wake up at this time and prepare the transcript as promised........Ok lets me hit the point withoout boring us with lots of stories.....
I WILL TITTLE THIS TRANSCRIPT: 6DAYS MIRACLE

PHASE 1

It happenes exactly Aug 1st when i was so confused, i got my admission letter that sameday (aug 1st), although i have gotten all the necessary document to back up my student visa plans but visa appointment hasnt beEN scheduled and the school ought to resume by 17th of this month, atleast i have lessthan 13days to resume if am serious about the masters programme. i tried all i could do to schedule an appointment but all dates had been booked up,so i decided to ask questions on this threat on (page 299 around 7:51pm), asking about how i wont forfeit this admission since i havent gotten a date for the interview yet, but this 4 gurus, @slimmy05, @darklight,@fregkay and @santaclause, they responded to my question which was very satisfactory for me follow by saying i shouldnot lose hope yet that i should book for an immergency appointment that miracle can still happen, so i held on to that word,
So 3rd of Aug i got a mail that my immergency appointment had been confirm that my appointment now is 6th of Aug which was yesterday,,,,,,wow!!!! i was soo excited when i got the mail. so i started revising some likely questions from the thread....GBAM!!!

PHASE 2

I got to the embassy around 8:30am because i was scheduled for 10:30am... after lots of screening and checks my mind just dey shake where i sit down near water, cold too con join am....lol.....To cut the whole story short we were asked to go in for proper checks and scanning, just if incase you carry weapon or bomb for body.....lol. so i did my biometric around 11:40am.......it was during the biometric they collected my international passpot, savis fee and the confirmation letter, and the guy wraped it up with a rubber-band, that same person will now take it to the appropriate consular to call your name for an interview.

PHASE 3
I saw lots of WINDOWS up to 20 windows oooo but those consulars were just making use of window 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and window 10. naso i see one pretty lady for window 1&7,they just dey refused people anyhow. but furtunately for me she wasnt the one that called my name.... na one oyinbo like that called me..........NA SO MY INTERVIEW START OOOOOOO....

PHASE 4 (interview lasted for just 1min 40secs).

ME: good morning
VO: Morning Mr ......, i can see you are going to.........(he was stearing at my i-20 like say hin eyes won commot)i sensed he couldnt pronouced the name of the school or what naso i finish am for am
Me: going to university of xxxx
VO: why did you choose the school
me: I choose the school because the school offer my course of interest and besides the tuition fee is extremely affordable and....(i was stamering there ooo but i dint let it affect my voice range)....VO cut*****
VO:how many schools did you applied to
Me: Three (na lie oooo) na one i applied to and na the only one offered me admission.
VO: can you mention them
Me: i just mention two universities that came to my mind plus the one giving me admision
VO: when did you graduate
Me:2010
VO:ok. ok ok ok ok ok ok ( the guy just dey say ok ok for like 20 times oooo with an intensive typing),,,,,
Me: me just dey reason for my mind say God don arrest him mind oo....lol
VO: so what have you been doing since you graduated
Me: Immediately after my graduation i was workiing with my dad and.......V.O cut?*****
VO: ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ( another set of Ok ok ok...... with intensive typing oooo.
VO: who is sponsoring you
Me: my dad
VO: what does he do
Me: He's a general manager of *********
VO: ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ( typing extra fast).he now brought out one white paper and circled it telling me to go and collect my...............
Me: i no even wait to hear the rest of his words, na that white paper dey my mind, as i collect am, i sharperly disappeared before he calls back.........lol....

NOTE: no single document were asked, not even my statements of account....THATS HOW GOD DID EVERYTHING WITHIN 6DAYS it was just God and favour of the Lord, because the GRE result i took along was even the one i did 2013 and the scored was poor (272) asin woefully ooo. but God just did it for me it was as if i was dreaming. imagine i hath to trek from the embassy reach obalende because joy filled my heart..... I pray for similar favor of God over anyone having there interview next in jesus name!!! amen...

ADVISE!!!!
1. Please if you are going for the student visa interview please dress moderately and look smart....even if you no get money still look good because first impression matters..
2. Treat your face....(shave your bears, and dont carry dred for guys but for our ladies please do your hair well make him fine well well).
3. Dont look Hustle and stressed
4. When you gets to the interview segment please dont chat up with friends, focus on what you came there to do,rather you can start meditating inwardly or praying so after interview you can chat up with friends
5. Abstain from seX or any sinful things for that week make it an holy week to seek the face of God, fast if you can but makesure you pray.
6. ABOVE ALL........Attach your visa with a vow with God, that if God can do this for you are ready to do so so and so and try to read isiah 60vs1-2.

Thanks once again for the maker of this exellent site for making us to be informed not deformed to information, thanks aswel to all the gurus in the building,,,,,,,, head bows sirs....am sorry to bother you with all my stories oooo just an expression of how i feels inside.... i cant sleep seff......lol

DARKLIGHT:

Boss, it's not only Nigerians that bargain, other nationals do. The difference is that some look for sales % cut, whereas others bargain outrightly. Americans like sales % cut more than other nationals. They can tour the whole mall looking for products with sales % cut.

Yea right. I myself I still bargain sometimes, when it is necessary though because it doesn't really work all the time especially for small purchases. Some people have gotten used to the fixed price system of goods here that they barely bargain.

One time I was buying a foam + box spring for my room as my air bed had finally given in undecided (the bed try jare) and the whole unit was for sale at $139.99. I could afford it but decided to test the waters a little bit to see how it goes. I tried this strategy: I simply offered the guy an amount and told him I that I found somewhere else willing to sell the whole unit to me at that price - $99 and was just on my way to the store but decided to check out his store first because it is closer to my house. And that worked like magic! The guy didn't even hesitate to ring up in $99 in the register, plus home delivery which I bargained down to $20 from the regular store charge of $45, and I smiled all the way home feeling like Floyd Mayweather on his victory night over Manny Pacquiao. cheesy

Bargaining is advisable, especially if you are buying stuffs in bulk. Even at Walmart or Target. If you are buying a couple of 40-inch HD smart TVs at $350 each, you could simply ask for the store manager and ask for a discount on your bulk buying. Your bargaining strategy puts the seller in that position where they don't want to lose you to a competitor after they've calculated all that the sales total comes out to be and they would be willing to compromise a little bit.
