I don't know how many deciding authorities exist but I'm certain the email is for a similar purpose as his. These emails are just to inform you of the progress of your application, if there is a problem they will call your attention to it and state it clearly in the email.

Are there two deciding authorities? Because I got a msg that my application has reached ukvi but it was not like the one posted.

Guy's I've been seeing a bit of confusion regarding the V.I submission centre, Appointments are not that difficult to get as I applied online and paid, as well as booked an appointment today (thursday) for submission tomorrow (friday) at the V.I submission centre. There were appointment windows throughout the day from morning till 3:00pm for tier 4 student visas.

I think the reason the VAC charge was introduced to the Ikeja centre is to evenly distribute the crowd between the two submission centres, because obviously more people live on the mainland and would be drawn to the Ikeja centre, which is relatively new.

when u track ur application on the teleperformance Web, it tells u d stage ur visa application is in presently. There are 6 stages. Stage 3 is the stage where ur application is now be checked by the uk visa and imm for decision while stage 4 is when decision as been taken, stage 5 - ready for collection etc

Guys I applied for my visa online yesterday, I chose the abuja centre, but the earliest appointment date is 19th August. Since my program starts 2nd Sept do you think I have a chance of meeting up.

Also I have to pay for a private rented accomodation in London, and banks are not currently accepting deposits of foreign exchange. I have the rent in full but its in naira, and Im at a loss regarding what to do. It seems only those with dom accounts can make payments in foreign currencies.

Does anyone have any suggestion?

This can not be true!
There is no problem or ruling that banks can not accept other currency.
Did you try to change your money into £ sterling first?
Or just walk up to the counter with Nair notes?

Look for currency exchange or Bureaux de change.

my concern is that I was made to understand that I have to complete my payment within three hours else I loose my appointment. i am yet to pay for visa fees because i cant proceed with the application. what should I do pls? already sent ukvi a complaint form but they stated they'll respond in one working day and today is Friday. I fear losing my appointment as am almost running out of time. pls advise.

I wonder why appointment times are this far for abuja, well kelvin I'll advise u to keep ur money until u travel before u can use ur ATM card to withdral at any UK ATM machine. The way I see these CBN rules, it will be difficult to deposit any foreign currency for purpose of transfer.

Didn't you read that they are not accepting foreign currency for now? Even those that have domiciliary accounts.

Try again. And try with different devices....phones, laptops or tablets. I had a similar experience but when I logged out and logged in again, I was able to proceed.

finally completed my application and booked an appointment for 21st Aug. although I had to pay twice for IHS. I'll apply for a refund. for those planning to apply soon, I advise that you apply soonest. when I applied, the earliest date available for booking was two weeks ahead. so I advise that you apply in good time.

VISA ISSUED!!!
Thanks to all for the wise counsel.

THE THINGS I learnt.

*Submitted application online on 20/07/15 (Salah public holiday) V.I VAC (church gate)
*Booked interview date on 21/07/15 (The next working day).
*Visa Received in Sheffield 22/07/15 via mail confirmation of receipt.
*Decision mail sent on Sunday 02/08/15 (which obviously isn't a working day so I assume decision was actually made on Friday 31/07/15)
*Total number of working days application lasted *9days*

Findings!!!
Ikeja fast visa processing to me is just a fluke.
if everyone thinks its fast and moves there just to get it fast V.I VAC thus becomes scanty with less application. would UK Sheffield abandon all applications just for Ikeja Centre ?? BIG NO. rather they only give priority to priority visa applications as stated on there web.

**My advice, pay for priority visa application if truly you want it faster rather than think that applying at Ikeja VAC would guarantee that cos it surely don't.

Reason: Teleperformance don't have any proven influence on visa application, submission or decision they are only a medium for applications and collection. "A legal UK VISA Agent"

For Example. I got mail of my visa being received at Sheffield from Sheffield Centre but teleperformance informed me after 24hours.
Decision mail was sent by teleperformance after I already received it from Sheffield UK 3days earlier. Thus, They only have information probably after the applicant had received such.

ON FOREX.
I bring Good news.
The CBN has relaxed its restrictions on issuance of PTA (Pocket Travel Allowance) hence you don't need to buy your foriegn currency from BDC at least for $4,000 equivalent.
However , don't bother using GTB as you would be disappointed as I was when I visited there overall head office in V.I Lagos.
I finally used FirstBank Marina Lagos.

REQUIREMENT: visa page of passport and flight ticket (return).. sometimes admission letter for tier4 visa.

FLIGHT BOOKINGS:
WAKANOW.COM: They did a good job in placing my bookings tho the customer care finished my airtime before attending to my call. However press 2 which is for reservations rather than 7 which is enquiry (That way they know its biznes) or transferring to an agent just like calling 180 on MTN.

I saved #210,000 with my idea of getting to London first then to Aberdeen via sleeper train...Tho sleeper train is same cost with flight £80. but for my luggage.

I hope someone finds this tips helpful.

Thanks.

Hello @ all

@kemkem30, I just want to say congrats on your scholarship! cool
Really awesome.......go ahead and do us proud!

Here is hoping that everyone on here informs people (yeah, our people really dont know) about available scholarships tp Nigerians, esp Masters programmes)
People who otherwise, would have no means of getting quality education in the UK can do so....and may become that "it" factor that we need for a better Nigeria

From,
a disqualified Chevening candidate (2014) lipsrsealed cry

I had high hopes, and my personal statement and all was great tongue (IMO, lol).....I even got the first thank you for applying mail from them, my friend did not.
But I did not know I was meant to apply for 3 DIFFERENT courses in 3 DIFFERENT schools....I applied for same course in 3 different schools
I believe this was was why I got bounced....
Point is, these scholarships are real......I have a friend whose friend got the Chevening last year

A happy week ahead to everyone

Hello dear,

I just stumbled on this post. Do you think it's wise to apply for 3 similar courses. For example: Telecommunications MSc, Communications Engineering and Networks MSc, and Digital Communications Networks MSc, of-course in 3 different schools.

Its really about knowing what you want. If your sure you want any of those courses then go ahead. Look at the course content/ modules for each of them and then decide. As for scholarships i have a few friends that got Chevening so try them but i am not sure that u need to apply for three diff courses to qualify, diff schools certainly but not sure bout diff courses. I applied myself and i believe i didnt get it cus i made a 2.2 ( chevening is for 2.1 but i applied and prayed hoping by some miracle i would get it) . My own advise that i sing like a song is get good grades in your undergrad cus it will affect ur life in more ways than u can imagine.. making. 2.2 was the major reason i wasnt able to get a scholarship ( milychocs i feel your pain) s well My sister got a scholarship ( not chevening) that not only paid her tuition but also gave her thousands of pounds for school expenses. The only scholarships i know that are available for people who make below 2.1 are ones like PTDF and co..

awww thanks thababe for your response. At the moment I'm open to any sort of scholarship for the 16/17 sesssion.

I've applied for Shell (got dropped), NITDA(awaiting a miraculous result in my favor, LOL), and I just thought of considering Chevening since I can meet most of the requirements.

What I don't get is whether or not Chevening wants us to actually apply for these 3 courses cos I'm looking at UCL, Southampton, and Edinburg. UCL being my first choice.
