Mordyb: The people of Ogoniland already told the Daura dullardd they need full control of their resources and not a piecemeal of clean up exercise. So those bunch of clowns at APC can continue fooling themselves with their useless propaganda. |

hinwazaka:Ogoniland has been studied by environmental experts and the level of damage done taken note of. Having done this, UNEP ordered Shell which was exploring crude to clean up the place. My question, why was it difficult for Jonathan to compel Shell to clean up Ogoniland? 1 Like |

erinalex:First and foremost, I have never subjected a co- debater on this forum to ridicule. I might make snappy comments, but I will not insult someone directly. Its not in my makeup to do so. My system is to offer constructive, clear and precise opinions of a informed citizen, on the ideological standpoints and policies of both sides of the divide, nothing more. Second, GEJ was the president of the federal republic of Nigeria, not the senate or house of reps member representing that constituency. It was his job to govern the whole of the republic not Ogoni land alone. If you want to cast aspersions against someone for the deplorable state of Ogoniland, start first with the LGA's, then move to the upper and lower house representatives, after which you then move to the Govenor, before you can then skip NEMA and all other institutions involved, to hit at the president The notion that because PMB made a comment without going through proper channels and delegating it to the ministries involved is just playing to the gallery. Something this administration seems to enjoy doing Finally I will relate this to what Mike Huckabee, republican presidential aspirant, said last night in relation to Clinton's bid " This campaign has been about someone who inspite of being at the top of the polls has no idea on what to do and even when the opportunity was presented to them failed to lead PMB, so far has no clue on what to do, and so far has been playing polo with the people's intelligence. 2 Likes |

The puzzling question is,why didn't gej do these things during the 6 years he was in power? Strange |

OrlandoOwoh: President Jonathan commissioned the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to do an environment assessment of Ogoniland in order to assess the extent of damage to the environment and how much it will cost to do the clean up exercise of Ogoniland. https://www.nairaland.com/2508955/Buhari-busted-ogoni-cleaning-mr |

hinwazaka: So una plenty like Jonathan for this country, so after the UNEP report you need another committee to re-study the report and another one to recommend a recommendation on the outcome of the inquiry until the report gathers enough dust and end up in trash can. Wake up dude, Jona is no longer in power 1 Like |

0702539360:You probably didn't do project analysis in school. The UNEP report will have been conducted based on standards and according to situations encountered in societies who have been victims of such. They will have ignored the salient effects on Ogoni people. Its like an external perspective of what to do, instead of from a Nigerian's standpoint of what are the true causes and what are the proper steps that should be taken to nip this ugly occurrence in the bud. Do u think they would have put in their literature review, excerpts from the works of Nigerian researches who have openly criticized the OMNC's on their abuse of regulations and flagrant disregard of the government's statues and codes. Also back in college I did a study on The Empirical analysis of the Petroleum Industry, despite the fact that others have done so in the past. That did not stop me from conducting my own study and giving my own solutions to the menace. So why shouldn't a new enquiry be set up and this time be done on our own terms. |

winniz:Man, we are not discussing who did the assessment, but who ordered that Ogoniland be cleaned up, in line with the directive of the UNEP. What did Jonathan do after the UNEP said Ogoniland should be cleaned up for more than three years now? |

Re: Ogoni Clean-up: Buhari A Better Son Of The N / Delta Than Jonathan – APC by winniz: 2:58pm On Aug 07, 2015 |
OrlandoOwoh: According to UNEP the clean up exercise at Ogoniland was going to last for Thirty years not three years with an initial capital injection of $1billion. |

Ovamboland:It was comments like this that had us accepting controversial conditionalities put in by the IMF concerning the SAP policy. At the end of the day we ended up crashing our economy and killing the industrial sector You guys didn't learn from Jona the fact that only Nigerian's can build Nigeria. But thanks to PMB we are now giving out our country free of charge to foreign desperadoes and fairweather journeymen |

onatisi: GEJ was in power for five years not six years. The clean up exercise according to UNEP required $1billion to start with and was gonna last 30 years, but the Daura dullardd ordered for the clean up exercise to be fast tracked at the cost of $10million. |

Lakeland4321:I have read the report and it is bogus. The report gives the indicted OMNC's a slap on the wrist. They will only pay a penance to the community which will never get to the affected individuals but rather will be squandered by community leaders. GEJ was no fool and so after proofreading the report put it where it belongs, the trashcan. PMB on the other hand without going through the report relied on social media like yourself and approved it. GEJ's government was about improving local content in the OMNC's and getting Nigerian's to clean up the mess and really reprimanding dubious characters be they local or foreign. Amaechi left because he was being pushed out. He actually played a fast one on people like you, just like Sanusi. The joke was really on you |
