I salute all d'pes and ps gurus in d house! I av been countering problem in playing ps and pes cause am a novice. My problem is how to score wen i get to d opponent's goal post. There is no way I will play short dat d keeper will not catch it. So hw can I use R2 or wat other method can I use to score and become guru like u all? Ur response will be highly appreciated.

Two days, no response!!. Lots of nairalanders are Pes/fifa fans, some even got ps2/ps3/360 at home to themselves yet we have no response for an amateur?

@derespect. Am not so into football, am into Third Person shooters, hack and slash/beat em up, wrestling and fighting games like Mortal kombat. I can help u though.
What u do when ready to shoot is:
Press shoot ,holding the direction u want the ball to go whether left or right. Effective within or around 18 yard box. Dont press too hard or for long else u miss the goal.
Also u can press Shoot, R1 and L1 at d same time to angle the ball, very reliable for 1 on 1 situation.
Another way of beating the keeper at 1 on 1 is the Lob shot. Once close enough to the goalie,simply tap shoot botton and L2 to chip the ball over him.
U can take a long shot from a range by holding shoot and forward botton for a one or two seconds, depending on how far away your goal is.
Well this is for Ps2/PS3. The botton for xbox differ from these. U can check for hints during a match by reading the button configuration or command list. Most importantly, Practice makes Perfect.

thanks 4 d correction, it was a typograhical error on my part. L2 is the right botton, not R2. I ve changed it

When u shoot the ball use ur d-pad key or ur left stick to put direction. Or when u shoot press r2

pressing R2 immediately after the shot gauge curls a ball into the post . in other words if a ball was supposed to go out for a goal kick, R2 will force it to curl into the goal post. It's quite handy, I use it most of the time. To lob the keeper, make sure the keeper rushes out for the ball before you use otherwise ur would be futile. Press L1 then Shoot to perform the trick. To p using a chip shot, press square and triangle at once. it's used to score when the goal keeper is diagonal from you. You can use a shot feint to score too. when the keeper charges for the ball, press square and X. You will send the keeper to wrong direction by feigning a shot. Finally you can score after making the keep dive for the ball before playing it. Press R1 and R2 simultaneously after the shot gauge shows. it's called super cancel. then shoot again after the keeper dives the wrong way. Hope this helps.

I don't enjoy the game with him coz he uses too much cheat R2 and the likes. He can use any team and he will still wins. And no his team ain't edit.

there are some extra button you need to press enhance tackle like double attack (box + X) , L2 or R2 can also added with X too to enhance tackle (L2 or R2 + X).defending is the major skill of being a pes master and also mind ur formation,I recommend dis formation 4 u. E.g Madrid ( 4-2-3-1) it's good for defence as well as counter attack

Immediately you take a shot, always make sure to press the direction button to enable the ball go to the direction you choose.

If you are using Analogue control, shift your left analogue stick to a 45 degree angle, or if you use the direction buttons hold the left/right and the down button. This will make the ball go to the direction that's almost imppossible for any keeper to catch.

If you want to use R2, always hold down the R2 before you take a shot.

How do you mark him?

The problem is I keep missing goals(players shoot wide)even though I guage my shot accurately and direct with the left analog simultaneously. Can anyone help to deduce what I might be doing wrongly?

Don't put yourself under undue pressure to score.. Take your time and move the ball around.. When you want to shoot make sure you direct the ball to where you want it to go...
Try this trick.. After pressing SQUARE to shoot, press TRIANGLE to make increase the power and speed of the shot, it'll also swerve the ball.

He's shadow marking you and using Keeper cursor to make life hard for you... When you're running with the ball tap L1 continuosly to make your player resist the opponent better.

reduce the assist level in player setting to gain full control of you player

when you are marking give your opponent a little bit space so as not to fall into trap of BOX + X dribble

go to team setting and change offside trap and defence level to A

edit formation and shift all your defence line up to the max level - this will help you more in keeping offside trap

when you pass the ball another player quickly press R1+the direction towards the ball .
it will triger play to quickly come to recieve the ball instead of waiting for the ball to come and meet him.

The best part of learning pes is learning how to win ball back. For marking, simultaneously holding down box and X calls two players to be marking at the same time. Such technique have been very useful to me. Also know when to change cursor to another player to come mark.

Some times it leaves your defence open, so you must learn how to master two man marking and I one man marking.

I have mastered it and I rarely lose matches.
