Clampdown On Corrupt Nigerians Will Be Sustained –DSS Boss by simongonner: 7:00am On Aug 08, 2015 |
The Director-General, Department of State Services, Mr. Lawal Daura, has said that the service will sustain the clampdown on corrupt public officials and other saboteurs. In an apparent reference to the ongoing probe of former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.) and crude oil thieves by the DSS, Daura said the agency would be professional, noting that the service under his leadership would be accountable to Nigerians. Daura, who replaced Ita Ekpeyong a few weeks ago, said this in an interview with Aljazeera TV, monitored by our correspondent on Friday. The DG said, “Whatever comes before us with facts and figures, it will be dealt with equally as required by the law. The ongoing investigations and clampdown on corrupt persons and saboteurs of the nation’s interests will be sustained.” Daura assured Nigerians of a more resolute and professional service which he said would attend to valid reports brought before it without prejudice to anybody. He urged Nigerians to raise their expectations, adding that the secret police were poised to restore the confidence of citizens in the service. In the less than 30 minutes chat, Daura said, “Nigerians should closely watch and follow what we have started and what we will continue to do. I am sure they will not find us wanting.” http://www.punchng.com/news/clampdown-on-corrupt-nigerians-will-be-sustained-dss-boss/ 10 Likes 2 Shares

No one is against clamping down on corrupt politicians, but the question is; Is it the primary responsibility of the DSS to be clamping down on 'corrupt' politicians? When we have a war raging? And, why you are at it, we would also like you to clamp down on the 'corrupt' elements that are within the President's circle. Only then, will we take your anti corruption crusade serious. 6 Likes 1 Share |

After the unprepared and shoddy account given by Mr Etim of the DSS at the senate hearing this week, its obvious the DSS has become the president's GESTAPO. The fact that the DSS now intends to do the job of the EFCC, is ludicrous and out of order. If they have any shred of integrity left, they had better stick to the code book of the DSS and really abide by the guidelines Mr Daura stated in the interview 7 Likes 1 Share |

But, in other to organise proceedings and not cause national chaos PMB as an honest man---- A man that finds time to observe his 5 daily prayers can be trusted to release a comprehensive list of corrupt politician and give the masses the go ahead to clamp em down in the streets and take their pound of flesh. The masses are itching to deal with em politicians. |

Dear Mr. Daura. .... I don't think any sensible Nigerian is against the clampdown of citizens who have defrauded the nation one way or the other by the DSS. What we are however against is : 1. Lopsided delivery of justice in favour of those in the good books of APC party. 2. Undue harassment of non-party members by the DSS 3. Continuous torture and detention of RECs in states where APC was perceived to have lost elections recently meanwhile states like Yobe and Kano , where APC is in power but there is substantial evidence of massive rigging , nobody hears of DSS intervention . 4. Overzealous take over of the duties of the NPF, EFCC , ICPC , NA , FRSC , NSCDC , etc by the DSS . 5. Appointment of you Mr Daura , a retired , obviously-partisan relative of the president as head of a sensitive institution like the DSS . 6 Likes |
