Sorry about the outcome. Let me make it clear to you that earthen pond is not really the reason why you made loss. I've been using earthen pond for a while now, I am still using it till present and I will continue to use it till foreseeable future. There are a lot of things that could make you experience losses while using earthen pond. One thing about earthen pond is that you need to manage water supply (the most important thing), give them the right feeds, feed them very well using on a spot feeding method, constant monitoring etc. It is always garbage in garbage out. There is no shortcut to anywhere. I've seen a lot of people who are not able to get their capital back. It has happened for me before when I first ventured into earthen pond. Before calling it quit, you need to give it another shot. Determination is the key to success.

Yes, it includes feeding with floating feeds. 25% FM is 72% 999 or Danish. I have no idea what the total cost will be. Check with the nearest feed mill because price varies from one feed mill to another. The average weight will be 2KG at the end of 5 months

Go back to that formula and quote where I said 200KG. Most of the formula given are in 100KG. If your fish respond very well to feeding, they can consume 1600KG or more before 3 and half months without floating feeds

You can repeat the formula as many times as you want. There is no rule that says you must make it twice. However, any amount invested on them, you will get it back at the end of 5 or 6 months, if you manage them very well

I rear my fish for 6months. I start using finisher when they are 4 and half months to reduce cost. However, I don't advise anyone to use local fish. I will rather reduce the FM % to minimal than use local fish. You can't compare processed and imported stuff with enough additive with what they source for locally. Some of the local fish people use can make u vomit if you smell it. It's just so disgusting unless of course you can get those small fish ; we call it yoyo in Yoruba language (sorry, i no sabi d english name)

This will help them to digest the feed on time thereby helping them boosting their eating habit. To reduce mortality rate, immediately you notice that two dropped(dead) and float in your pond, and you also notice that some of them hang on the water, you need to drain the water and treat them with salt and wood ash. Feed them after 48 hours.

Thanks bro..my earthen pond is actually in a swampy environment and there is continuous flow of water it only gets dirty when polluted,however I think pumping regularly is not easy considering d size of d pond...still on mortality is there a chance that fishes eat themselves?

Yes, they eat themselves. You can drain the water every month.

Price varies. Price is high in Lagos compare to Ogun state where the price is relatively low. Melange should not be more than 400 Naira per kg

Melange is very much viable in the market, it currently sells for #380-#390 per kg in Lagos.

The numbers stocked cannot give you the total weight or tonnes however, what they eat can do so. For example if what you stocked in respective of the total numbers eat 3 tonnes of feeds which is 3000KG then, be expecting 2300KG or 2.3 tonnes. The remaining 700KG will be waste. It may or may not be up to 700KG, all depends on how smart you can feed.
