Udmaster: I have some serious questions for you guy. Perhaps you can answer them since you're a loud-mouth and all. Why do other Nigerians find the SE inhospitable and uninhabitable? Even PH, in the SS, has more appeal than any SE state to outsiders. And considering how much noise you all make about your 'hard-work' (which has been proven to be a mere myth coz we all now know most of your millionaires are importers of fake products or drug-traffickers) and 'ingenuity', why is it proving so difficult for you to appeal and create another Lagos, PH, or Kano replica in the SE where other Nigerians can feel a part of, and why is it that trading is the only viable venture in the entire SE? Why don't other Nigerians feel free and safe enough to reside in the SE as they do in other part of the country? I can mention areas in at least 3 Yoruba states where your people reside in their numbers, trading and living peacefully like no man's business. Why can't the same be said about your region? Is it that you people are too clannish, inhospitable, unwelcoming, or what? 7 Likes 1 Share |

Udmaster: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/11/edo-youths-vow-resist-pumping-crude-oil-edo-delta/ Edo youths vow to resist pumping of crude oil from Edo to Delta on November 27, 2013 / in News 12:43 am / Comments By GABRIEL ENOGHOLASE BENIN — YOUTHS from Orogho, an oil producing community in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State, have vowed to resist any attempt by Seplat Petroleum Development Company Limited to continue pumping crude oil produced from the community to Okpororo in Delta State. The youths, who staged a peaceful protest at the Edo State House of Assembly, in Benin, against the operations of Seplat Petroleum and Newcross Petroleum Limited, expressed dissatisfaction with the operations of the companies, insisting that their operations and attitude smack of deceit and infidelity to the community. A protest letter by Charles Eghaghe (Chairman) and Osasogie Omoruyi (Secretary), for Orogho Community Development Association, which was handled to the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mr. Uyi Igbe and copied to Governor Adams Oshiomhole, accused both companies of lacking transparency, honesty and sincerity. They accused the oil exploitation companies of trying to weaken the productive base and capacity of Edo State in favour of neigbouring Delta State. “We can no longer tolerate the fraudulent manipulations to cede oil wells to Delta State. Well 4 is clearly in Orogholand and by extension, Edo State. Evidence produced through joint efforts by Edo and Delta States Surveyor-Generals, speaks volume of this fact,” the youths said. They also demanded the appointment of one of their own as Community Liaison Officer to act as intermediary between the companies and the community, adding that the companies should wake up to their corporate social responsibilities to the community. The youths appealed to Governor Oshiomhole and the Speaker of the state House of Assembly to intervene to avert restiveness, rancour and possible breach of the peace in the area. Receiving the protesting youths, the Speaker commended them for their orderly manner and behaviour, promising that the House Committee on Oil and Gas had been mandated to look into their petition. - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/11/edo-youths-vow-resist-pumping-crude-oil-edo-delta/#sthash.CYzVTay6.dpuf |

What they fail to understand is that when the system is flawed, No one can develop the country. No matter how hard they try, the system won't let them. atbu1983: I really don't know how enlightened you are but let me correct some little misinformation in your writeup. A look at the attached photo will show you that the SE produce a percentage of the oil and gas you consume and that adds a lot to our foreign reserve. Lets leave it at oil and gas, i don't want to talk about local manufacturing, trade, agriculture and other things the SE exports to earn foreign exchange. Also, you must be very naive to say that the SE is landlocked. What happened to river Niger? Go pick up a book son, you talk like a child. 5 Likes

dearpreye:Whether some groups like it or not, centralism will soon give way to fiscal federalism. The major reason why USSR collapsed in late 1980s was not because of lack of good leadership. Heck USSR had some of the worlds's toughest leaders at that time. It was simple because the Communist centralisation of economic activities was totaly inefficient and unsustainable. That period saw many republics opting out of the Union without a single shot fired. Nigeria's current economic structure is unsustainable and will soon go the way of Russia. 5 Likes 1 Share |
