According to Bihop Oyedepo, every act is a seed. Those who diligently execute the tasks assigned to them (however minute) are attracting heavens' attention in their direction. God will show to show Himself strong on your behalf in the days ahead, as you swim in the rivers of the labour market. I personally experienced this about 9 years ago, when I served in a remote village school. 4 out of 5 of us posted determined to put in our all, for the sake of our fatherland and especially for these disadvantaged village students who will have to seat for the same exam their counterparts in the township will seat for.
Today i dare to say that the four of us are doing very well. Those working are successful as those doing business. I for one, got married to my NYSC sweetheart, have 2 wonderful kids, about moving to my own, happy in all ramification and most importantly, knowing God more and more.
This is to everyone assigned a task (either by law or by volition), do it as unto the Lord!

ayokanmi3: This is a story of Ayokanmi Oyeyemi NYSC personal CDS projects experience.. I shared it on my facebook profile month ago.. So copied it and sharing it on Nairaland again now as it may be of use in anyway. Thanks
My story: My NYSC personal CDS projects experience. So I left camp on August 26, 2014. But unlike every other corps member I wasn't looking forward to serve in a city but rather a small village where I can possibly be of better help. And on getting to Jagbe village I felt somehow discouraged at first in the fact that the place lacks too many amenities but then realized that it is answered prayer. I resumed officially to my PPA on september 10, 2014 and so since then I started mapping out ways in which I can be of help. So due to my relationship with my students and some of the village elders and also with the help of a certain village missionary I was able to able to identify various challenges. After then I made inquiry at the NYSC office as regard the modus operandi in taking on projects and also contacted a senior colleague @Solola Idris on ways to put out the proposal. And by ending of October I submitted my proposal and so I highlighted ten(10) proposed projects to be executed.. Which are: 1. Donation of five(5) equipped first Aid boxes to various schools in Jagbe. 2. Provision of sign post to Jagbe health care centre. 3. Inscription of the mothers creed at Jagbe second school(Aimed at creating a healthier community void of crime & other social vices as it is collection of powerful words). 4. Donation of drugs to two(2) health centres in the community.( Was aimed to reduce children mortality in the community due to the shortages of drugs at the health centers as most of the drugs were pediatric.) 5. Provision of Educational materials to students. 6. Payment of WAEC enrollment fees for two less privileged students at Jagbe second school. 7. Deworming of all Jagbe pupils. 8. Renovation of the borehole machine at Ikhua Jagbe health centre. 9. Sensitization on hand hygiene and environmental cleanliness couple with the donation of buckets, waste bins, parkers e.t.c to the beneficiary schools 10. Training on skill acquisition on ankara bag making at Jagbe second school. So, after the whole mapping of the projects and various calculations in the proposal; the whole span to a total of #420,000. And so it was time to start sourcing for the finance as the whole proposed fee was at first threatening and suicidal; as this was how the most difficult part of the project execution started. Back as an undergraduate I was one time a departmental president in FUNAAB, Ogun state and so there were times that I went out to various philanthropist within the state to seek for funds(as an undergraduate for departmental projects) & at the end have always come back with beautiful result as long as I have an excellent proposal but I found out here that Edo state is like the opposite as GIVING is not their watch-word. So, in a bid to meet the budget, I began looking around for all political aspirants around Edo north through their usual fliers on the road and with that I had a list of all aspirants for different offices(before party primaries). With the help of internet, I got some of the aspirants mail address and send in my proposals(this was all around october, november)but waited for weeks & months and got no response so device another method while working with INEC as an Ad-HOC staff in which I got so many of the aspirants phone contacts through referrals & some other methods(after party primary has been conducted) and here I had a link with some of them in-which so many are so busy that they don't pick up so all I have is a 2-page or 3 sms text to convince them about sponsoring my projects which I did over- time. You know politicians now, got some who were willing to help and some others who kept promising but failed.. Aspirant like Hon. Dada Abubakar, Hon. Momoh was able to help in their little ways. But there were some ugly scenarios like when I visited a former chairman of my local government(by virtue of NYSC) in his home with my proposal; he bluntly refused to help me but yet didn't stop there as he continue chanting that 'am jobless, 'that am I the government' 'that is it my state or town niii' e.t.c. a very emotional day that I shed tears after I left him, I almost stopped sha but still continue so as to shame him which I successfully did. Also a ugly scenario when I heard of a former Governorship aspirant in Edo state who is known for his philanthropy works; so after I have trailed him for months, I was able to gather that the only time I can get to him is on Christmas day as he entertain guests & visitors on that particular day; so fast-forward to christmas day (dec 25, 2014) I was at Fugar in another local govt (Etsako central) in the big mansion of chief X(used X as I don't want to reveal his name) and had waited hours(got there around 8am) as chief X was so busy, eventually he met me but told me he can't meet me now that I should come tomorrow instead & looking at the far-away distance couple with t-fare Its not sensible for me to go and then come back(as this was already around 8pm in the evening) so I solicited with the gate-man to share his small room with him till tomorrow morning which he accepted though at first he was reluctant about it and so by morning I got up & did 'rub n shine' to meet chief X even though I had to wait till around 2pm before he could grant me audience, eventually he did and after going through my proposal he said this is an excellent proposal and I love your courage but I don't help corpers for anything atall as I only help maybe students or community people, chai at that moment I felt so irritated that I have to maintain decorum after waiting for two(2) precious day couple with t-fare and all I get is a NO so I left after-ward immediately in a bad shape. There were also times that some aspiring politicians wanted me to help them for electoral fraud in order for them to assist me which I so bluntly refused so the only few aspirants that help me were those that wanted it genuinely. Also, since the aspiring politicians weren't sincere enough I had to extend my tentacles to some NGO outfits, churches, and most especially SELF. And by early January I executed my first project which was the WAEC enrollment of two less privilege students that cost #30000 then by February another projects was kicked off which was first Deworming exercise of all Jagbe pupils with sensitizing the pupils on hand washing too and also accompanied with donation of different hygiene materials that cost about #60000 while the larger bulk of the fee was sponsored by Hon Dada Abubakar of PDP. Also was followed by the skills acquisition on ankara bag making which turn out to be a big success as so many of the attendee(both students & adults) are now using it as a source of live-hood now. Then we had the mothers creed project, donation of drugs to two different health centers in which the drugs cost around #50000(NCCF also assisted with some drugs too asswell), donation of the first aid boxes asswell, also distribution of different education materials to pupils(which include biros, pencils, text-books, mathsets, book of hopes from NCCF) and with all these I had spend #230,000 for the whole projects as I had to reduce the budget and left two projects un- executed which was the renovation of borehole and provision of sign-post to the health centre. In all, I give God the glory.. Sincerely when I finished the whole projects and started documenting it for NYSC(for reference purpose) and calculated the whole money spent & realized that I had spent # 230000; the first question I ask myself is how come? Because I can't possibly understand where the whole money came from... It was really a divine projects that have improve the lives of Jagbe inhabitants; I also got gifts with different recommendation letters from the king of the community, the beneficiary schools, local government e.t.c couple with the king sincere prayer when I last met him telling him about my passing out. And crowning it all was the state honors certificate and merit award signed by the state governor, NYSC Edo board chairman and NYSC Edo state coordinator. As I said these projects were done out of the mind to impact lives infact while executing the projects I didn't get NYSC officials involved not until the last two projects execution due to it being mandated by the NYSC management. Lastly, I want to use the medium to advice serving corps members and aspiring to look inward to help their various community they are as this is the only way we can keep being the CHANGE(nothing is too small) also bearing in mind that funds will always be an hindrance but that should not stop you. I was only paid #19800 as the allowee in edo state, I had no stipends atall from the state or local govt or PPA as allowance atall and with my #19800 I I footed about 55% of the whole money that was spent. Nothing good comes easy!!!! Also greatly appreciate the effort of so many people/ organizations that have contributed to the execution of this project one way or the other.. In the last 7 months had been one of my busiest and remarkable in my life all thanks to vessels inform of catalyst that had been very instrumental. Thanks to my very family at Edo state(NCCF family): you guys remain my strength, also thanks to every colleagues at Jagbe (james, diya, kunle, emma, david, ada) for your sincere service to help out without collecting anything in retain: I say God bless you all, and to my mum in Edo state(Daukaka Ahleri): thanks for the wonderful inspirations; inspiring me to do more and making me believe myself; God bless you richly ma and to every-body that have one way or the other helped also including all my very sponspors(hon. Abubakar, GWSD, RCCG, hon. Momoh e.t.c); I say thank you all and pray God will bring smiles to your face the way you have directly/indirectly did to the inhabitants of Jagbe. I don't quite agree with you. Being poor doesn't stop you from helping those poorer than you. Who knows, God can because of your kind and sincere heart open bigger doors for you. After all, if you ended up being jobless for 3 years, the money saved will finish... So do what has to be done today, leave tomorrow to take care of itself. Thumbs up OP. |

(NB: for corps members/aspirants that are interested in having personal CDS projects, can contact me so I can send my proposals & other documents to them as a reference) Please sir, I need the proposal! udehgoodluck@gmail.com |
