U almost got it right the answer is 6 let's continue with ur method

hapheeyxz:
3+3*3-3+3=12. why is it 12? now we introduce BODMAS and can only get the answer if we use it how it should be used.let's start now
B for bracket( )
O for of
D for division
M for multiplication
A for addition
S for subtraction.
from d equation we are concerned about> MAS
I.e we do d multiplication first so we have
3+9-3+3 which is 12-0 coz -3+3=0. so d answer is 12.

From ur last line 3+9-3+3 , use BODMAS ie add b4 u subtract
Ie 3+9-3+3 =12 - 6 = 6

Why not type this equation on your calculator and see the answer. Graduates should never argue on this nursery maths. Haba. This is embarrassing.

Yeah! its BODMAS approach but you guys are not doing it right.

3+3×3-3+3=

3+3×3....since -3+3=0...

Applying BODMAS,
3+3×3= 3+9= 12.

Answer is 12.....

The right answer is 6. It's just like saying 3+(3*3)-(3+3)=3+9-6=6. It's just a mental sum
-(3+3) is not =-3+3 but -(3-3)=-3+3 when u open d bracket recheck your solving

ode Lason answer is

Bodmas

No BOD so left with MAS

3 X 3 = 9 M

3+9=12 and 3+3 = 6 A

Then S

12 - 6 = 6

mr eistien what about the negative sign in front of 3 ? :\

stop showcassing your poor mathematics skills here, i guess you are among the 87% that failed it

Sister try opening up the brackets from what u wrote there: (3+9)-(3+3) and see if you'll end with the original expression: you're gonna get 3+9-3-3 which is not the original expression cos - times + gives -..take note
Re: First Bank Simple Equation That 87% Could Not Solve. by mayorme(m): 5:24pm On Aug 10, 2015
3 +[ (3*3) (-3 + 3)] = 3
you have to treat (3*3) (-3 + 3) as multiplication which equals to 0
which leaves you with 3 as the answer.
Re: First Bank Simple Equation That 87% Could Not Solve. by InvertedHammer: 5:24pm On Aug 10, 2015
3+3x3-3+3 =
BODMAS

3 + 3 x 3 - 3 + 3 = ?

3 + (3x3) - 3 + 3. /multiplication
= 3 + 9 - 3 + 3

(3 + 9) - 3 + 3. /addition
=12 - 3 + 3

12 - (3 + 3) /addition

=12 - 6. /subtraction.

=6

It is a concept question...not a calculator question. They know some of you will try to cheat with a calculator.

Type it in a calculator, type it into Google, type it into excel, the answer will always be 12. Yet people are arguing about different answers.

I can't deal.

understand this

B O D M A S

no bracket, no division whats next? lets do the multiplication.

3 + (3 x 3) - 3 + 3

3 + 9 - 3 + 3

So whats next lets do the addition

12 - 6 = 6

the answer is 6

3 + 9 - 3 + 3 can't be 6

If u introduce bracket it means

(3 + 9) - (3 - 3) = 12

How can you say addition and subtraction are on the same level when multiplication comes before addition in BODMAS the same way addition comes before subtraction? After multiplication, do all addition separately and do subtraction lastly
Oga learn the basics of programming and you will know that addition and subtraction have the same precedence and you move from left to right.

all you making noise of BODMAS don't even know when to introduce the bracket. What stopped you from introducing d bracket for the addition of d 3s i.e -(3+3) which gives -(6), hence we now have 12-6 giving us 6. Since addition A comes before subtraction S,we need the bracket to evaluate the operation + first before -
