3+3*3-3+3 applying PEMDAS But lets introduce bracket without tampering with originality of the equation (3+3)*(3-3)+(3) 6*0+(3) 0+3=3 no wonder 87% failed... winks!

sorry guy, you don't know how to use BODMAS, It's (3)+(3*3) -3 +3, minus 3 cancels +3 => 3+9 = 12
correct, no be lie

if your answer is not 12 (or you got 12 but you are not sure), leave the internet and think about your life. you are in trouble. This is 1 + 1. I did ordinary differential equations in uni... that was hard, not this.

Nigerians hardly devote time to learning the basics of subjects. We don't value the process; we only value the product....

Thanks to Mr Adegboye and Mr Olabisi who took the pains to teach the rudiments of Mathematics.

Anyone who took the time to read New General Mathematics JSS3 , will have no issues with elementary maths problems like the one here.

The answer is 12 using BODMAS. It's simple, since there is no Bracket, no OF, no Division, the next which is multiplication comes into play: 3x3 = 9. The equation then becomes 3 + 9 - 3 + 3

Stage 2: using the same BODMAS

9+3 = 12 and -3+3 = 0. With stage 2 done, we are left with 12 - 0 which is equal to 12.

So the answer is 12 QED.

My bad. Answer is 12

Using BODMAS, the answer is 6 (i will go with this). However, doing the calculation in order of arrangement the answer is 18. grin

You are not correct. Remove the parenthesis and start solving from the right. You'd still arrive at 12.

I saw the below equation on First Bank BBM channel and what i saw with great dismay was the poor answers people were writing. Seriously our arithmetical knowledge needs to be awaken because i can't see a nation developing with poor analytical skills especially with simple equation.

So Nairaland members lets see those with good knowledge of arithmetic and those who will embarrass their parents.
For those getting 6 as answer, so 3-3+3=-3?
