Personally I think pple who say that a lot,are really suffering from inferiority complex. Saying 'black is beautiful' actually makes people think you don't like ur color.TRUE
Come to think of it,if a light skin girl dare says 'light is beautiful'that would mark her end,the backlash she would receive eh,please try to see things from this perspective, its almost tolerable for a short person to tell someone that he's too tall,than a tall person to say the same to a short person,
It may not be the perfect metaphor, but what I'm saying is.don't let society view you as the short one,who Is allowed to talk because he's supposedly 'less privileged'

It sounds really awkward to say 'Black is Beautiful' and all that stuff, true.
But it's not the same as saying 'Light is beautiful' or whareva.

In the U.S. they made a popular slogan 'Black Lives Matter' (black meaning ethnicity not skin tone). White people then asked if that means they could say 'White Lives Matter'. They can't. It's crass and wrong.

The point of those slogans is to remind society of something that it forgets often. Nobody needs to say that white lives matter just like nobody needs to say that light is beautiful. Society already enforces these values.
People do need to say that Black is beautiful because society even pressures some of them to bleach light blacks aren't pressured to 'darken'

So it's not the same thing. Your comparison is inaccurate. I find the statement awkward but that doesn't mean that it's wrong.

I know that was just an example.

It's not counterproductive. It's kinda the only thing that helps some people with low self esteem caused by just their skin colour. It's the duty of society to take that weight off of them since they put it there. Whaddya mean be counterproductive tho

That's why I don't agree on shows like BET awards. We are segregating ourselves and look like we don't have an identity.

Whites don't do all these things because they have utmost confidence in who they are and their skin colour.

It's like Nigeria having a Biafra music awards. And then they say we are not accepting them as Nigerians.
