DoctorAB,how about if all your details match save for your neco result where the last letter of your surname was omitted?
E.g .. Instead of let's say John Ezra , it was written as John Ezr rather.

sorry I didn't see this earlier. Was going thru past pages when I saw this. It can be corrected but just dn't sit down and wait till clearance day. Get a sworn affidavit explaining everything u did(uniben doesn't joke with surname)... If ya waec cert is with u, make sure other details like DOB matches ya other document. It'll be corrected on uniben site but u've to bear ezr instead of ezra... Since d mistake is on ya waec cert.

I asked this question July 27...and I came across the question today! I became perplexed...but thanks to the beans I ate this morning, I was able to figure out something, which I thougt wise to share (read my siggy)

U've got any formula a broda can use to ascertain what power to raise a number to to give another number.

E.g. 3 raise to x will gimme 4374
How do I find x?

Ok...the real question is...
The nth term of the sequence 2,6,18,54....is 4374. Find the number of n.
A. 9 B. 8 C. 7 D. 6

Its G.P so..
a=2 , r = 3
We know that ar^n-1=nth term
So,
2*3^(n-1) = 4374
3^(n-1)=4374 = 2187

The problem for me was, how do I find the cube root of 2187 without calculator (dnt mind uniben angry

)

The simple method I discovered was, Divide the number by 3 till u get 1
I.E. 2187/3 =729--->1
729/3 = 243---->2
243/3 = 81 ---->3
81/3 = 27 ---->4
27/3 = 9 ---->5
9/3 = 3 ---->6
3/3 =1 ---->7

Dat means, multypling 3 by itself 7 times will give u 2187
Therefore, 3⁷=2187

So to continue solving...
3^(n-1) = 3⁷
3 cancels out 3
n-1 = 7
n=7+1
n=8

PsNote! Its a lazy method sha...I don't wanna go with Binomial theorem or logarithm method,,, so if u loss in exam hall, don't wish me bad o grin
