Look, I didn't challenge soyinka in the use of english. I challenged him in the use of logics. As for being political, I am sorry, but out of both of us the most political is you.
I am not blinded by anything, I am guided by logics. I like people to be given their credentials. The same way I questionned people who were saying that buhari were a terrorist. I also defended the fact that a guy who rose up to the position of major general should not be required to hand over a waec to become a candidate for elections. I have personal opinions, but I am never guided by them, by training, i learnt how to use my brain the way you use your calculator.

If the law requires it, it should be provided. If the law makes a provision should in case it is not provided, then such provision should be followed.

Mr. postgraduate, if you're going to attack someone for their intelligence, at least proofread your paragraph.

That said, Soyinka has a valid point, and your grandstand is no more than an attempt to challenge an intellectual, specifically for the sake of a "challenge."

Stealing IS corruption, whichever way you approach it. Everything has a root cause, and for one to steal (whether by embezzlement or whatever) it requires a corrupt state of mind and affairs.

Of course, stealing is not synonymous with corruption, and corruption isn't synonymous with stealing. Notwithstanding, this does not negate the sub-categorization of "stealing" as corruption.

He NEVER said that Stealing is Corruption!

soyinka, as a postgraduate, I get disappointed in you each day.
You have become a full fledged politician, and I suspect you have always been.
Soyinka, you are far from being the intelligent man I thought you were.
For your information, soyinka, the word corruption doesn't have a universal meaning. Indeed to heterosexuals, homosexuality is corruption, to passionate musicians singing with the help of electronics is corruption, to people against alcool, drinking alcool is corruption. And depending on your religious beliefs, corruption can mean different things. For muslims, eating porc is corruption, speaking ill of mohamed is corruption, not being a muslim is corruption. For christians not being a monotheist is corruption, not going to church is corruption. for atheists being religious is corruption. Also when a thief is being arraigned by the police for stealing an orange, nobody considers that thief a corrupt man. When someone rubs a bank and steals large sums of money, nobody calls him corrupt. I expected a university professor to know all this. How dissapaointed I am in soyinka who I thought was a world citizen and an intelligent man.

I guessed you didn't comprehend what the Prof. was saying. He neither approve nor disapproved what the former President said. His line of reasoning is that when the former President said stealing is not corruption, the journalist should have asked him to expantiate. The statement is open ended and knowing how deep corruption has eaten into the fabric of our society, the former President Jonathan shouldnt have made statements that is open to interpretation that seem to aggradize corruption. He ought to have fully explain what he meant.

yes indeed, if the law requires it, then it should be submitted. What I meant was that there should have been an amendment for special cases. To me, the biggest reason which would have disqualified buhari as presidential candidate was the fact that he overthrew an elected president. He bestrayed the then constitution and he betrayed the military.

I used to be a great fan of this guy soyinka, but now he has shown his true face: that of deceipt.
When soyinka says this about buhari "he is a born again phenomenon". What I want to ask him is where is your proof ?
Each time people underline buhari's tribalism attitude and his dictatorial ways, buhari's supporters say that we should give him more time before concluding, whereas, someone would just come out of nowhere and categorically say that buhari is a born again ! Soyinka was one of the people who called buhari a terrible dictator as bad as sani abacha, soyinka said that in the 2011 electtions. And shamelessly soyinka is singing another music now. Soyinka, it is obvious that either old age is playing tricks on you, either you get money to say the things you say.

Yesterday on nairaland, I saw a post by someone named Quizmillionaire, I clicked on their signature, I landed on their website and had a live chat with a guy named John. I love quiz and trivia so much and here was a website where I can win lots of money answering quiz questions. I had my doubts as I have never come across such a gaming website before, but I decided to give it a try and in the process of playing, I mistakenly choose the 7 questions format instead of the 5 questions format I had intended. It all happened too fast and questions started showing up. The first questions were not so difficult but the final three were tough and I simply guessed right three times! A page came up that said I had just won N 200, 000. For a minute I did not know what to expect. I simply entered my bank account details in the provided field and was restless. To my utter amazement, four hours later I got a credit alert for N 200, 000! I still could not believe what was happening, I logged into my Internet banking platform and there it was! N 200, 000 credit from Aleph Intellectual Entertainment. I got a congratulatory email from them, They said they were a new skill based gaming company and that I was their very first winner. I promised to tell everybody I come across about them for a month, hence this thread. I even saw their advert on nairaland this morning. Their website is quizmillionaire.com. THEY ARE GENUINE!
.........,............una don come? Na the latest. Go enjoy your money alone.do not invite nairaland

In civilised countries, encourageing people to commit suicide is a crime. Besides, I am not the usual five year old whom you can convince to go and kill himself. ( I wonder how many kids are dead due to your advise, but perharps that is your political way)

Now you think you've said something very sensible? after all examples of 'corruption' above, that depending on religious belief is corruption but stealing is not corruption? stealing? maybe you and our ex president went to the same college. your GST's lecturer must have really mess#ed with your brains.

That is something common in all governments on earth. You see, that is why you need to use your brain if you want to give a reasonable definition to corruption. Your definition makes every government on earth corrupt. Indeed, boosting one's popularity is a personal gain. Recieving a salary is a personal gain. Taking trips with the state money instead of your salary is personal gain. Eating with the state money instead of your salary is personal gain.

Soyinka is playing with the brains of gullible and unsuspecting nigerians. In a more developped country, these kinds of crooked statements like "born again" can not even be sold to children above 13. But frankly speaking, most nigerians are quite unintelligent and the old soyinka can sell them poo and contradict himself as much as he wants.

Go find a day job, and quit bitching, If you and your generations attain half of what Soyinka attained in your life time you'll be set. Election is over, your dumb.ass lost get over it, or just go bury yourself; you'll be bitching for the next 8yrs just to let you know.

When was the last time you said a thief stealing an orange was corrupt ?
When did you see an armed who just rubbed a bank and say he was corrupt.?
You see there are some words which don't have a precise definition, but those words have feelings associated to them.

You see, it all becomes clear when you use first order logics. Consider the two objects "stealing" and "corruption".
You will have to conclude that: not (stealing = corruption).
Although if you consider "stealing" and "corruption" like two sets of committed or to be committed offenses, then some would have the opinion that stealing is included in corruption: Stealing < Corruption.

So, going by your definition of corruption, stealing is not corruption in your fish brain? You keep on displaying your stupidity here, honestly.

This Soyinka man is not serious.

He said: "it was wrong for a president to have taken such a position on a serious issue like corruption, thereby playing down its negative impact on the nation and its people".

Is it wrong or is it severely moronic?

He said: “The media should have challenged President Jonathan to define what stealing is, when he said that stealing is not corruption. How can a public figure, an intelligent person like that, come out to tell the public that corruption is not stealing? Then you should have asked him, what then is corruption? The media should have challenged him.”

Which media?

The ffuktards we label journalists?

He thinks they have the brain to think on their feet or even conjure up such questions?
