homkenny: Hello house. Thanks for all the robust discussion on here. I must say it has really helped me. However i still have some questions..
I have been admitted to study MA International Economics, Business and Cultural Diplomacy at the University of Furtwagen and the ICD, Berlin for the Cultural Diplomacy course. I have funded my blocked account although with 8015 Euros. I gave my bank the mandate to send 8040 Euros and they did but Deutsche Bank in Germany confirmed the credit of 8015 Euros to my blocked account and they sent me via email a blocking confirmation notice which i have used to book my student visa appointment. Can i secure visa with the 8015 Euros in my blocked account or will the german embassy compel me to balance up with the remaining 25 euros? I asked this question because i read from the German consulate embassy website that the amount required to be in the blocked account is 7908 Euros. This coupled with the fact that Deutsche Bank already applied the blocking to my account and they sent me a confirmation to that effect. They also sent the confirmation to the embassy. And they are not supposed to do that if the money in one's blocked account is not yet up to the minimum required by the embassy. I'm a bit confused.
Secondly, the date of my interview is on the 30th of August, 2015. And my resumption/enrolment date in school is the 1st of October, 2015. That leaves a period of only 4 weeks (the month of September) for the embassy to be able to process my student visa application and they usually say that they require a period of 6-8 weeks and that the process cannot be expedited. I am very worried. Is it possible to get my visa within that period. Is there anything i can do about this?
I didn't discover this thread until recently, if i had i would have booked my visa interview a long time ago. I only waited till i funded my blocked account before i applied to book for my interview and that is really bothering me now considering the time loss.
Please Nairalanders. I need clarifications.
A friend funded 7980-8000 or thereabout last year and was safe as confirmation was given. Mind you, 8050-90 euros was still on the bank website at that time and the embassy had 7908 on their own website just like presently. Just check your ENROLLMENT DEADLINE, if its beyond October 1st then you are probably safe. Nothing is cast iron but make sure you enquire from your coordinator if he/she can extend your deadline or reach the alien office to hasten up the process of your visa. I hope you find this useful. Good luck! 2 Likes |

M y fellow #team bremen. I hope you have paid your semester fee. I have been disappointed by our Nigerian banks ooo. Read my story:
I went to a nearby access bank branch in ikorodu to pay for the semester fee last week Wednesday. After many pressure on the branch manager to initiate the transfer, he said they will initiate it, I waited till Monday evening no feedback. I headed straight to Fidelity HQ to open acct and pay the fees plus blocked account on Tuesday. Madam Adeola said the semester fee will fly' but the blocked account cannot fly' saying I need a letter from my school stating the cost of living on a letter headed paper. I had to carry on with the semester fee processing. meanwhile I sent a mail to my schools to help with the letter. From Fidelity, I head to First Bank Headqtrs in Marina (221.78 to an euro as at Tuesday), I showed them my credentials for blocked account, they said its okay that they can make my money fly'.
This morning on my way to fidelity to enquire about my transaction, I received a mail from FBnk that my transaction was declined. Reason: they need a proof of payment of semester fee. On getting to Madam Adeola, she said they are lack of FUNDS (I don't really undstand what she meant) until they hear from CBN. meanwhile semester fee deadline is August 15th. From there I went to confirm the mail I got from First Bank by meeting the transferring officer. He said if I can provide the evidence of payment there wouldn't be issue. I considered creating a new transaction with first bank to pay the semester fee since they have funds in treasury, which I did! though fidelity own is still in process. I don't want to take any risk that's why I opened the transaction in two banks (whichever one succeed first I will stick with and withdraw from the other account). I don't know if it has any consequence.
Advice to those that are yet to fund should get all necessary document in advance especially the letter from the school.
my question is, If this transaction is not successful tomorrow (which I believe will) what will be the consequence in Bremen and do I need to let my school know situation of things? please I need your input .
@ Nellyb24 you are mouthed for securing that Earth Science admission, I fear' when I saw the 10 limited slots when I wanted to apply then. |

@ Nellyb24 you are mouthed for securing that Earth Science admission, I fear' when I saw the 10 limited slots when I wanted to apply then. Lol, they said 10 limited slots, but the oda side of the story is that very few people apply to that Earth science course, in 2012/13 session, they had only 20 spots but just 21 people applied, so they had to reduce it to 10 slots the following session, then 33 people applied! and even last session just 15 people applied, so the course is not always that competitive, and like nelly said motivation letter matters.Anyway ur bremen course beats dat earth science course anytime in my opinion. 1 Like |

No negative consequence but positive one. I applied to four courses in a school and ope lo jasi. But note: If you are applying through uni-assist, you will only pay for one course while the rest are free even if they are up to 10 courses; so far it's in the same school. Fire your application as soon as possible because it makes different sometimes. Best of luck 1 Like 1 Share |
